’I will protect you within the shadows of the dark. I will always be with you. I will find you no matter where you are. You are mine to protect, you are mine to love. Even when death tears us apart, I will find you again.’
This was the first time for Iris to hear someone’s voice, saying a long sentence that she could hear. His voice was so deep and solemn, as if he was saying a sacred and beautiful vow to her. She was even able to hear the determination in his voice.
But, whose voice did it belong to?
Iris felt the darkness that engulfed her was not as scary as it used to be, instead, it felt warm and peaceful. Not like the cold and eerie attic, where Mason used to lock her in. She didn’t mind staying here for a little bit longer...
Meanwhile, someone got into big trouble when Iris didn’t wake up for two days straight.
"She is still alive! I swear she will be fine once she wakes up!" Haco cried in frustration when he received Cane’s wrath.
The Alpha didn’t raise his voice, nor did he cuss him out, but the murderous intention that radiated from him was enough to make anyone inside the room suffocate.
Grace grimaced, she lowered her head, as she cowered in the corner of the room. She was a healer, but she was clueless about treating Iris, since her healing power didn’t really have any effect on her.
Cane even called Ardand over to the Riverside pack, though he knew this old healer was also hopeless. He didn’t know what caused Iris to fall into a deep slumber and he had done the best he could by concocting medicines to strengthen her vitality, but it didn’t show any effect on her.
In the end, Ardand was sent back to the Howling Wolf pack, since there was no healer there.
"Then wake her up," Cane said coldly. He was standing beside the bed where Iris had been lying down for the past two days. He didn’t leave her side and gave orders to Jace from this room, while Grace was not allowed to leave. She had to check Iris’ condition every few minutes. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Meanwhile, Haco had been sitting in a corner, curling himself in fear, as he could feel his life was in danger. If something happened to Iris, he knew by heart he wouldn’t make it either.
But, he was sure Iris would wake up. The dark magic stone was so powerful, but if she failed to purify it, she would have died by now.
"Alpha..." Haco said in a coaxing tone. "The dark magic stone is so powerful, I think she needs time to rest and gain her strength back, more so, it is good for her to sleep. She has gone through a lot ever since she arrived here. I think this is a good thing, she could rest."
Cane narrowed his eyes dangerously, which made the sorcerer cower back to the corner. Not only the Alpha, but he could also feel the anger from the lycan leak out. After all, he had been a vessel for the lycan for five decades, of course, he could tell that much, and it made the Alpha look even scarier.
"How long?"
"Pardon?" Haco asked, but then he realized what the Alpha meant. "Give her two more days. I think four days will be enough for her to regain her strength."
