Iris was a runt, that was what everyone including himself thought in the beginning, but at this point, after witnessing what she could do, he was not sure about that anymore.
There was not much information on runts, but based on the little knowledge he had, no runt could perform magic. They couldn’t shift, nor did they have magical ability.
Yet, Iris proved time and time again that she had some special ability and Haco himself told him how he mistook her for a magic user when he saw her for the first time.
But, how could it be? Both Iris’ parents were shifters, there was no doubt about that...
"Where did you get this color from?" Cane pinched a flock of her fluffy, curly hair, as he twirled it between his fingers.
Iris had mentioned this before, she got this color from her maternal side, but she was not sure about it either, because at that time, it was her nanny who explained it to her when she was still a child. That piece of information was not really reliable.
Cane had asked Mason about what happened ten years ago and about Iris, but he didn’t know much about his sister either.
Cane narrowed his eyes, as he contemplated something. His jaw hardened, he was deep in his own thoughts, while staring at his mate. It was hard to tell what was running through the depths of his mind, until midnight came and his body started to shift into his lycan form.
This transformation was not as painful as before he met her. The pain was bearable and Cane could keep his consciousness to a certain level as long as he was close to Iris, as if the lycan didn’t want to do anything and was content enough to blanket itself with her scent, allowing Cane to take control.
The night was silent and the lycan snuggled closer to the sleeping woman, craving for warmth and peace...
=============================
Once Jace could get away from the drunk alpha Dristan and Koda, he immediately hunted down Ethan’s whereabouts.
As it turned out, he was guarding in front of the Alpha and the Luna’s bedroom, as tonight was a new moon and no one was allowed to enter.
Thankfully, with the dinner going well and Alpha Dristan and Koda being too intoxicated, no one would interrupt Cane at this moment.
"Ethan!" Jace rushed toward the Gamma once he learned he was here.
Ethan jolted when he heard Jace’s fierce voice calling his name. "Wh- what?" he stuttered, afraid to see the Beta’s expression right now. Did he do something wrong? But, he just arrived, how could he incur his wrath when he didn’t do anything?
Ethan frowned. "I have never seen them kissing, but I am sure they did more than that behind closed doors." frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
