The King taunted Cane intentionally and the latter knew about that, but it didn’t mean his blood didn’t boil with anger when his mother was being disrespected like that.
He could feel this anger slither up his veins, but it was not only him, there was another strong feeling running through his mind at this moment as he stole a glance at Lady Cyan briefly.
The lycan inside him awakened and the sight of Lady Cyan stirred his wrath.
It didn’t happen before. When he met with Lady Cyan, the lycan always stayed dormant. What was different now? Was it because he could sense Iris was in danger and all of this was because of this mistress?
Cane glanced at Iris, her small face scrunched up, as she glared at King Aeon with such strong disgust upon reading what he said about his mother. Weirdly, he felt a little bit better seeing his mate so angry on behalf of him.
"Aeon," Cane called the King by his name, since the pretenses had been dropped, there was no need for him to show any fake politeness and respect. He didn’t deserve that, after all. "You are so disgusting, it’s so shameful we are related by blood."
Alpha Dristan was so shocked when he heard that, so did Sir Elijah. He shouldn’t be provoking the King further when they were at a disadvantage! Did he really want to die?!
What Cane said alone could grant him a death sentence, but at this point, what difference would it make?
On the other hand, hearing what Cane said, King Aeon was seething. He was about to order all the warriors to attack at once, shred him into pieces, but Lady Cyan stopped him.
"If you are so shameful of your bloodline, I can suck your blood out of your body! I will make your mate watch how every single drop of blood is drained from your body!"
Lady Cyan put her hand over the King’s and this stopped his outrage, as the King held himself back to let his mistress take over the situation.
Sir Elijah watched this subtle gesture and was bewildered as to how this mistress could tame the enraged king and actually, the King looked docile with her. He only met Lady Cyan twice and because she did not stand out among the other mistresses, it came as a surprise for her to be able to do this to the King.
"Alpha Cane, I am very curious about your mate, can’t you lend her over to me for a while?" Lady Cyan tilted her head at Iris. She still couldn’t figure out what this woman was. She was not a shifter, but she was not a magic user either, yet, she had the ability that no normal human had.
