"Have you lost your mind, you idiot!?" Alan got a harsh slap on his face from his maternal grandfather. This old man was furious and even though he looked so old, he held an immense strength, which could send Alan falling to the ground with one slap.
Yes, Alan was the King, he claimed the throne, but the real power was held by this man. Zeke. His grandfather from his mother’s side. He controlled everything and ruled anything, even people who were against them. They were the mind controllers.
"You useless thing!" Zeke kicked Alan to the ground and did it a few times more, while he begged himself to be spared. He didn’t dare to attack back, knowing he wouldn’t stand a chance to fight him.
The only people in this room aside from the two of them were Corry, his advisor and the head of the royal sorcerers, Dexter, who was none other than Alan’s uncle.
Corry looked mortified to witness how the King was being treated, but he understood the true power behind the throne and he would be seeking death if he was daring enough to interrupt, thus all he could do was to stand at the side, watching everything that unfolded.
Alan spat out blood along with one of his molars. He curled his body on the floor, whimpering and crying like a child, begging his grandfather to stop.
This was the King of the shifter kingdom, being assaulted in his own palace without anyone daring to stop it.
"You are so useless!" Zeke delivered a harsh kick one last time, which made Alan gasp loudly. He vomited his guts out the next moment.
The reason why Zeke was so enraged was because Alan had given an order to Alpha Gallot to come in contact with the Silver Warriors in the Silver River side pack to kidnap Cane’s mate.
Alan was very impulsive. His way of thinking was very simple. He only wanted to get back at Cane and would do anything to make it happen, especially now that he was the King. He could use his power to fulfill his dreams of defiling his mate.
He had learned that Cane favored Iris so much and would take her everywhere he went with a lot of layers of protection, but what he failed to learn was how to execute his plan. He was very immature and was not a good strategist to say the least. No wonder his attempt failed so miserably.
But, once Zeke learned about it, he was livid beyond words. He wanted to make Cane lower his guard, letting him think that he and Cyan backed off completely, especially after the war for the throne with the Red Claw pack commenced.
Yet, what Alan did would put the Alpha in high alert and it wouldn’t go well with his plan.
"A dog is smarter than you!" Zeke spat in Alan’s face, as he still curled himself on the floor. "You are so shameful! Useless bastard! You should be lucky to be able to play king with that stupid brain of yours! It is so embarrassing that my daughter’s blood runs in your veins! Idiot!"
Corry lowered his head. He was truly afraid. He had warned Alan to consult Zeke about this or at least ask Dexter first if he was going to plan something against Cane, as Zeke’s instruction was very clear that they had to stay away from Cane and his pack for the meantime.
Yet, Alan simply didn’t want to listen, thinking he was the King and he could give an order to kill whoever he liked. He thought his grandfather and mother would praise him if he managed to kill Cane, since he knew how the Alpha had caused his mother to go blind, though he didn’t have any idea of the details.
"Father, I think you need to see her now," Dexter said, once his father stopped spouting his vile words. "Aria is about to give birth, but there has been a difficulty."
Zeke threw a nasty look at his grandson before he commanded him to get up and follow him.
"I think we need help from a midwife. Aria has been in pain since this morning. Cyan made some concoctions, but it didn’t help." The first contraction happened this morning, but it lasted until midnight and by this time, Aria had lost a lot of energy. Dexter had been giving her his blood to keep her awake.
"Cut her stomach if she still can’t deliver the baby," Zeke said coldly.

"Lu, I can’t do it with you..." Iris said. She tried to put distance between her and this lycan, who took over Cane’s body again.
"Whyyyyy?" Lu wailed in disappointment. "Do you think what I am going to do with you will not be good enough? I will let you be on top of me, if you want!"
Iris really wanted to cry! She didn’t know whether she should be embarrassed by his bluntness, or she should be angry because of how careless he spoke about them being intimate.
This lycan was the epitome of her frustration, but Iris tried to be gentle and patient with him, knowing he didn’t mean anything bad.
"It’s still in the middle of the night and I am so tired, I don’t think I can last for long... tomorrow we need to leave to the Diandem pack." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"We can leave next week, you don’t want to leave this pack, so we don’t need to leave." Lu’s red eyes lit up when he thought he found a good bargain to convince Iris to have sex with himself. "We will do everything you want! We can have a lot of sex! Day and night! It will be fun!"
Lu was talking about having sex with Iris, as if they were going to take a stroll in the back garden. Day and night?! Was he planning to kill her?
Yes, Iris didn’t want to leave this pack and wanted to figure out how to help these people, but she understood Cane’s point of view and he had warned her there would be a lot of inconvenient situations like this in the future, where she had to stop using her heart and focus on the long term results.
