"Alpha Cane, please tell luna Iris, we will give all the diamond and gold that we have, as long as she is willing to help my baby, please, save my baby’s life. I have lost Vemion, I don’t want to lose our baby too." And tear started rolling down her cheek.
Iris wondered if Laluna knew that Cane’s original plan was to let the baby died, would she start vomiting blood? For her to think Cane was that generous, this woman was really blind.
"She can hear you now, you don’t need to talk to me, you can talk directly to her." With that was being said, Cane made it clear that the last decision was on Iris’s hand.
"Alpha Cane, maybe you can give some understanding to luna Iris about the importance of this situation," alpha Colter chimed in, he still directed his words toward Cane, instead of Iris. This stubborn old hag was irksome.
There was an awkward silence that fell after what alpha Colter said and Koda cleared his throat to ease the tension.
"Luna Iris," he called for Iris, not making the same mistake that alpha Colter and Laluna did. "The white diamond tiger is our precious possession, we can’t just give it away. We just lost it as someone stole it and just got it back from Alan. We hope you understand that we can’t give you the creature."
Iris scrunched her nose. "I think your great grandson is not as precious as the white diamond tiger if you don’t want to give it up at all. As it turns out, your precious great grandson, the future king of this continent, is not as important as the rare creature." Iris smiled sarcastically. "Not as important as your flesh and blood, apparently. Not even for the whole plan."
Iris let her anger got the best of her when she replied to Koda and Cane had to remind her to control her emotions. In this game, you couldn’t show your emotions blatantly or else, people would be able to see through you and Iris wouldn’t get the diamond white tiger if they knew she wanted him not for the diamond but out of pity.
Kindness was Iris’s strength, but it was also her weakness.
Meanwhile, the three of them were stunned when Iris put it in that way, it made them looked so bad. After all, the way Iris made comparison between the future king of the kingdom and the white diamond tiger, portrayed them as a cheap and low people.
"I have told you long time ago, my luna has a specific taste." Cane reminded Koda again about their conversation months ago, when he asked for the white diamond tiger and they refused to give it to him.
Well, you could say, Cane would get what he wanted in one way or another...
Iris leaned her head against Cane’s arm, as she closed her eyes. "I am tired, let’s go back and lay down with me." Iris didn’t think she could keep up with her façade for any longer, there was this rage within her heart that was beyond her control.
If she stayed a little bit longer here, it would end up with her gave away her true intention or killed their wolf spirits, neither options would help with Cane’s plan.
"Let’s go back, I am tired. They don’t even want to give me that white diamond tiger." Iris sulked, she pursed her lips and urged Cane to leave.
Her action was unacceptable. If it was their women, Iris would have been beaten up for acting like this. A woman must do what their man said.
Yet, Cane caressed her cheek and then took her hand. "Let’s go," he said gently.
This was the kind of gentleness that left Laluna bewildered of how such brute and cold person like Cane could display such gentleness to a woman? Even Vemion, who was known as a decent prince, who had never raised his voice, had never showed so much affection toward her.
Vemion treated her well, but it didn’t mean he didn’t sleep with another woman. Laluna thought, she was lucky, because if you compared Vemion with other male in royal family, he was like an angel, but then she saw the way Cane looked at Iris and how he treated her, Even Vemion in his most affectionate moment, wouldn’t look at her like the way Cane looked at Iris.
"What we should do now?" Alpha Colter was clearly annoyed.
"Do we have any other options?" Koda clicked his tongue.
On the other hand, once Iris and Cane returned to the safety of their bedroom, Iris immediately turned around and hugged him. She caught Cane off guard, as his back hit the closed door.
Iris buried her face against Cane’s chest, her shoulders were trembling. She was upset and sad at the same time and countless emotions that she couldn’t describe, ran through her mind.
"You have done a good job, Iris," Cane praised her, as he patted her head and let her to cry until she felt a little bit better.
Cane had told her that this road would be very hard, it was not an easy path that he chose, but truly, this was very difficult for Iris.
"I don’t want the baby to die..." Iris said between her tears.
"They will give up soon, we only need to wait." Cane kissed the top of her head. "Good job, Iris."
Iris didn’t think she had done a good job, but she appreciated the comfort that her mate offered. She was really tired and wanted to sleep...
