The moment Lou asked whether or not she wanted to know why he acted out of his character, Iris knew, there was something serious behind the reason of this nagging feeling.
Iris was reassured when Cane finally opened up to her and did not reject her advance, he became affectionate with her again, but once Cane went away and the butterfly in her stomach stopped fluttering its wings, that weird feeling came again.
Especially after she saw Lou.
In the past, no matter how she tried to push him away, he would stick to her and never miss the opportunity to one up Cane.
Therefore, when she saw Lou was acting weird toward her, she knew Cane was hiding something and for odd reason, Lou agreed with him, therefore he avoided her, since he couldn’t resist not to tell her.
"That’s what happened, right?" Iris voiced out all of her suspicion. She couldn’t rely on Aliana and the other because they obeyed Cane blindly and even if Hanna couldn’t tell her, the only person whom she could get the answer was this merchant. "Cane has been hiding something and you agreed with his decision."
Lou raised his brows. He was surprised that her guess was rather accurate. "Wow! You are smart!"
Iris frowned, it didn’t sound like a praise at all. "And what is it that he has been hiding from me, until all of you agreed with him. Even you agreed with him."
Lou raised both of his arms. He looked offended to be said he agreed with that alpha’s idea. "I did not. I do not agree with him."
"Then, tell me what is it?" Iris looked calm and collected, it was so different from herself two weeks ago.
Was it alright to tell her about what happened? She looked like she could handle it... Lou actually contemplated it.
"Have something like this ever happened to you before?" He looked serious when he asked the question.
"Something like what?" Now Iris was confused.
"Have something really, really bad happened to you and you force yourself to forget about the event completely?" Lou looked at her more intensely and he could see the shock on her face. "So, it happened before. What is it? Who had hurt you before?" His voice when he asked this laced with subtle anger.
Iris balled her fists, her face scrunched as she took a step back, but then her jaw hardened. "That’s none of your business," she said through her gritted teeth, her voice was dark and deep, a flicker of hatred crossed her eyes.
Seeing that, Lou knew it was something serious. Suddenly, he felt this rage to think someone had hurt her until she forced herself to forget about it.
That person had hurt her to the point the pain was equal to losing her babies? Who was that bastard!?

Kellan stared at Cezi, the son of alpha Derick looked very furious when he saw his sister’s condition. Arella was laying on the bed, she didn’t move and unable to speak. She was paralyzed!
Kellan purposefully asked someone to bring Arella here in his campsite, because he heard Alpha Derick and Cezi would come as his reinforcement. It was almost a month, but Kellan still couldn’t penetrate Diandem pack, all of that thanked to a hundred dark magic users that alpha Colter had to defend the place.
They had tried all method and right now, they could only wait until they ran out of their food. Eventually, they would come out on their own. That was the best strategy Kellan could come up with.
"What happened with her?!" Cezi was furious, while his father couldn’t utter a single word, as he crouched down next to the bed and held Arella’s hand. His precious daughter was crying, but her body was paralyzed. She couldn’t even move a finger, neither she could talk. It was only her eyes that was still able to look around. Those eyes were very red, as tears streamed down her cheeks.
Kellan gritted his teeth and then fell to his knees in front of alpha Derick and Cezi. He had his head hung so low. "I am sorry for causing this misery for your daughter!" he said. "This is my recklessness that cause her suffering."
"What actually happened?!" Cezi didn’t want to hear him apologized, he wanted to hear explanation, while his father seemed disconnecting for the rest of the world.
Alpha Derick had pledged his loyalty and put his whole pack in difficult position, only to preserve his daughter’s life and prove his loyalty to prince Kellan, but then how could his precious daughter end up like this?
"What happened with her?!" Cezi snarled. He was enraged, you can see the madness in his eyes to learn how his younger sister in this devastated condition.
"I don’t want to make an accusation, but it is alpha Cane," Kellan blurted out, he then stood up again.
"I will check on the babies, go back to sleep," Redmond said, as he checked on Rye and glanced at baby lucia. She was breathing, so it was fine, thus Redmond put his focus on his son. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
