Cane thought he would feel something when he finally met with alpha Derick, some kind of nostalgic feeling when he met the person, who once close to him and his family.
However, that feeling didn’t come, because when he saw alpha Derick again, he felt nothing but unfamiliarity.
He remembered him, but the closeness was nowhere to be found, yet he was glad he didn’t need to deal with that unnecessary feeling. He had a lot on his plate to deal with and the state he was in right now made thing easier for him. free𝑤ebnovel.com
"Cane, we don’t need to go further with this unnecessary fight, we can work together and take down Alan. Prince Kellan has a plan for this." Alpha Derick moved closer to Cane. He still saw him as a young man that he met years ago, though physically he noticed a lot had changed. "Right now, we can work together. Josh will be so proud of you to continue what he was fighting for. What we were fighting for."
Cane let out murderous intention.
Kellan wanted to take down Alan? Was that the garbage he fed alpha Derick, so he was still blindly loyal to him, thinking Alan was still the same stupid crown prince in the past?
It didn’t take a genius to tell that Kellan already knew who was the true ’current Alan’. Decratic must be the one, who healed his legs and now, he wanted to feed him with the same narration that he gave to alpha Derick?
"That’s your fight alone, alpha Derick, I am not on your side." Cane wanted to kill someone when he heard the mention of Kellan’s name. "Where is Kellan?"
Alpha Derick didn’t seem to be impressed with the way Cane addressed Kellan without his title. It was rude and impolite in his opinion.
"What changed you, Cane? What narration that alpha Colter said that made you take his side?" The warmth on alpha Derick’s face faded away, as he looked at Cane with sharp eyes. "Choose your side wisely, Cane. You are treading a dangerous path. Your father will not like this."
"My father is dead, you don’t need to worry about him." Cane had said the same thing when someone kept trying to make him walked the same path and chose the same decision like his father.
"Cane!" alpha Derick roared, but there was nothing that he said after, because what Cane said was simply a brutal truth that he needed to deal with.
There were only the two of them there, while a little bit further, Cane could see Cezi, while he took Jace with him, who kept a safe distance, enough for the beta not to hear the conversation between Cane and alpha Derick.
"If there is nothing else do you want to say, you can go back to your warriors and prepared to meet your demise, or you can come with me and I will show you what kind of vile person the prince you adore so much."
It would be hard to fight the warrior from Celestial Moon pack, because all of them were born to fight. With the position of their pack and there was constant monster attack, their strength and prowess in a battlefield were top notch.
However, for Cane there was no way back, it was whether they won this war or they died.
Alpha Derick narrowed his eyes and now Cane could feel the anger rolled off his body after what he said. He was not at all happy with the fact that Cane degraded his loyalty to prince Kellan. "At first, I thought prince Kellan made a mistake when he had this suspicious that you wanted to kill him by giving him a poisonous wine, but now..."
"I did it," Cane admitted readily, without even waiting for him to finish his words. "I did want to kill him." Now the situation had changed so much, there was no need to hide his intention.
Alpha Derick’s expression went from anger to shock and then enraged. "CANE!" he barked so loud, Jace and Cezi could hear him and this put the two of them on alert. Whatever the conversation they were in, it didn’t go well. "How dare you to do that to the prince?!"
"Derick," Cane addressed him without his title. "If your intention to come and see me is only to get me to your side, you can get lose and if you want to get the antidote for your daughter, I don’t have it." Cane tilted his head and nodded at Cezi. "I thought I have made it clear last night with Cezi."
Alpha Derick didn’t have any idea that Cezi was having a meeting with Cane last night. He turned his head and glared at Cezi, who could feel his father’s wrath was directed at him, but he didn’t have any idea why.
"I will see you in the battlefield tomorrow, Derick." Cane held a little bit hope that he could talk to alpha Derick and convince him for the sake of his friendship with his father, but now when he saw him in person, he knew the alpha had succumbed to deep to believe whatever he said about Kellan. It would only waste his time and energy to explain things to him and he didn’t even want to start it when alpha Derick was very riled up when he didn’t even address Kellan properly.
He was a lost cause.
