Cane felt like he got a heart attack when he saw Iris was standing right in front of him. His mate was here.
On the other hand, because Cane stood there without moving, Iris didn’t dare to take a step closer too, because she was afraid of his reaction.
What he would say? Would he be angry at her? Yelled at her? Would he send her back to Chrystal Moon pack?
When Iris rushed here, the only thing in her mind was to tell Cane about the vision she saw a week ago, more so, she missed him like crazy. She was also angry at him for ignoring her.
But now, when they were already in front of each other, Iris was not sure what to say, especially when Cane didn’t move. He said nothing and kept staring at her.
It was Aliana, who came to approach Iris first and took her to the campsite area.
"Luna, you must be very tired, come. I will take you to the alpha’s tent." Aliana grabbed Iris’s hand and glanced at the alpha, who still stood in the same place.
"Oh, okay..." Iris looked a little bit awkward because not this silent from Cane that she expected. It would be easier for her if she said something.
Cane only moved along when Aliana took Iris with him and walked past the alpha. He followed the two women from behind.
Meanwhile, Jace had his eyes on Zale. He stared at the young boy with an incredulous expression, as he crossed his arms in front of the young boy.
Zale immediately turned around and wanted to scurry away, but Jace already put his hand on his shoulder, rendered him unable to escape.
"Don’t give a bullshit about luna took you with her," Jace started. "You were the one, who followed her here, right?" Jace guessed it correctly. After all, this was not the first time Zale did this.
With that Eron and Dyne chimed in, they reported to the beta about what happened and this made Jace became even more upset.
"I told you that I will follow the luna!" Zale shouted before Jace could even say anything. "I told you I will follow the luna! I told you that, right?! You can’t kick me out! I will come back again if you did!"
Jace said nothing, but he dragged Zale into the campsite, while the other warriors followed him.
At the same time, inside the alpha’s tent, Iris felt really awkward when Cane kept staring at her, while crossing his arms in front of his chest, his expression was unreadable... it was hard to concentrate what Aliana told her when her mind was solely on Cane.
After realizing the tension between them too, Aliana smiled at the luna and told her that she would come back with food for her.
Iris didn’t think she could stomach anything, but she nodded anyway when Aliana went out of the tent and left the two of them alone.
"Th- there is something important I need to tell you," Iris said, she prayed her voice wouldn’t be this shaking, because she didn’t want to feel intimidated when Cane literally didn’t do anything. Probably, this was because of her guilty conscience for rushing here, knowing he didn’t want her to be in the battlefield and had a high risk to be harmed...
"Speak." Cane’s voice came out so cold and dark. This was not the tone that he used to use when he talked to her, but she could understand why he was very frustrated with her right now. She couldn’t help, but felt a little bit hurt.
Iris opened her mouth, she was about to tell him everything. Her first instinct was to obey him, because that was how she was raised. She needed to obey, though not all the time she would do that.
However, before she could explain, there was this sudden rush of anger that caught up in her throat, as she remembered how miserable she was when he ignored her letters. She wrote for him many times, but not even once he wrote back, not specifically for her.
She knew this was his habit, but it didn’t mean she couldn’t be mad because she was being treated unfairly. She didn’t ask him to write a novel for her, a simple ’I am fine, how are you?’ would do to curb her worry.
But, no. She didn’t even get that.
Therefore, when Iris spoke to explain what she saw in her vision, her voice was as cold as his, her blue eyes dimmed and she balled her fists under her sleeves. She was very angry with this bad alpha of hers!
