Iris watched how Abby tried her hardest to absorb the strong black magic from Ethan. The light that she produced was cluttered to many directions when it supposed to focus on one point.
"She couldn’t hold it. She will get a backlash from it," Lou said.
Iris didn’t realize it when exactly Lou stood by her side, she only noticed him when he spoke to her, while staring at what Abby was doing.
"What do you mean?" Iris looked at him, worried in her expression. She wished everything would go well with Ethan, but seeing Abby’s struggle, she was afraid for both of them.
"I am not sure if it happened to a Serafim, since divine power was pretty different from normal magic. But, for a magic user, when your power was cluttered like that, it would cause the power to disintegrated. Needless to say, that was not a good sign for a magic user, since the strength of the power will hit you as hard as the power you unleashed."
Iris clutched Lou’s sleeve without her realizing it, she felt her heart was beating in her ear to see how the divine power even more scattered. The power swirled around Abby’s body. Was that how you absorbed the black magic? Iris was unsure...
"She tried to absorb the black magic..." Iris told Lou, hoping he would come with explanation, but Lou didn’t have any idea about divine power.
"Is that even a feasible thing to do?" Lou frowned. He fixed his eyes on the Serafim and slightly moved in front of Iris to shield her if something went wrong and the backlash really happened.
"Yes, a Serafim can do that..." Iris replied. She looked around this tent and could see how the tent was shaking, as if there was a strong wind that would knock it off. The sound of it was like a howling of a banshee.
Iris stared at Liam’s expression. He clenched his jaw tightly, his eyes fixed on Abby. He was having his own battle within him. He must be fighting the urge to get Abby to stop whatever she was doing right now and followed the order that was given to him.
But then, it didn’t take long before what Lou said came true. There was this an explosion that could blind your sight for a while and a strong gush of the wind, but Lou was ready. He created a solid shield around him and Iris also Jace, Aliana and Ethan.
Not only that, Lou pushed Abby away, so the explosion from the backlash wouldn’t impact Ethan, who was very close to her.
With the gamma’s current condition, he would have died right there and then if he got a direct impact from the backlash.
Yet, Lou misjudged the divine power of the Serafim, thinking Abby was not as powerful as Iris. Even so, still, her divine power couldn’t be compared to a magic user.
