Chapter 869: THE CHANGE IN HER SCENT

Iris startled when Cane kissed the tip of her nose, her sleepiness faded away the moment she realized the man, who was with her right now was Cane. He was here with her now and Iris felt like she was going to cry.

Iris hugged him tighter and buried her face against his chest. "Why it took you so long?" This was the longest Cane let Lu resurfaced and it was rather hard to see the person that you loved, but it was actually not him.

Even though Lu had said that Cane would eventually comeback, but every time she opened her eyes and it was not this pair eyes, who stared back at her, there was this sadness and restlessness that Iris felt. She was afraid Cane would never comeback to her. It was silly, but that was the truth.

"I am sorry," Cane said, he squeezed her body. From the sound of it, the alpha was clearly still exhausted and it must be hard for him to get back his consciousness from the lycan. "It must be hard on you to deal with everything alone."

Iris kissed his chest, she felt a heavy weight was just lifted off her shoulders. "It’s so hard when I want to kiss you, but I have to hold myself back because it felt so wrong."

Cane chuckled when he heard that. It sounded very cheesy and Iris actually laughed after what she said. Her mood improved significantly.

"Will you tell me what happened?" Cane knew the gist of the situation when Lu took over his body, but he missed a few important things, which he was not aware of.

"You need to rest, you still look tired."

"I am fine, I can handle this." Cane liked it when they talked about important and difficult thing, while holding each other, as if they would always have each other no matter how hard the situation could be.

There was no way out if Cane already insisted on something and Iris knew this matter was already very pressing to be discussed.

Thus, Iris spent an hour later to explain their current situation, including what Lu had done, which caused them to be here. They lycan literally moved all the forces to the enemy’s gate without any plan, aside from taking them down by fighting them off.

That was very typical of Lu.

"Do you think I have done the right thing?" Iris asked his opinion, because she was worried, she ruined his plane and read his intention wrongly. She wanted to help, not to add more problem into his plate.

"You have done an excellent job, love..." Cane said softly with his eyes closed, it seemed he was still half unconscious and was very generous with his endearment.

Hearing that, Iris was very happy. Ethan and Aliana also the other people had said that what she had done was wonderful, it was beyond their expectation, but it was different when the word came from Cane’s mouth.

"What are you going to do now?" Iris lifted her to stare at the window from the carriage, the sky had turned dark and the shield around Winter Moon pack had not yet lifted. She still could feel the dark magic that surrounded it.

"I am going to sleep," Cane replied.

"Oh..."

It didn’t take long before Iris could hear Cane’s soft snore near her ear, it was ticklish, thus she slightly moved her body, but he tightened his arms around her waist unconsciously, as if he was not willing for her to be away from him.

The alpha could be very clingy sometime.

Meanwhile, as Cane was sleeping, Iris stared at her two tiny lights. She was mesmerized by how her lights had started to have a shape. They were no longer looked like two dots...

She felt like she could stare at them for day and night without being tired.

It was only later in the morning when they heard a knock from outside of the carriage, Cane and Iris woke up. The two of them slept very peacefully, they even skipped their dinner.

"Luna Iris," Aliana called her from outside of the carriage. "Please, come out for a while, there is something I want to discuss with you."

Since all of them knew it was the lycan that had been occupying Cane’s body, thus they didn’t even bother to ask for him. Everything had been handled and reported to Iris all this time.

"I will go out," Cane said when Iris was about to get off the makeshift bed. "Stay here, I will get you something to eat."

Cane then took a cloak and combed his hair recklessly with his fingers before he got off the carriage to meet with Aliana.
