Rei actually sided with them to solve the problem in this situation, though from outsider his solution was the best and that was what Iris wanted, but when the idea actually came from him, they couldn’t help, but became suspicious there was something else at play here.
However, there was no better solution than this and because it was Rei, who had suggested it, the elders couldn’t say otherwise, that was how much power he held in his hand.
That’s why, here Iris was. She entered the room that smell like citrus and saw Abby was laying down on the bed, seemingly sleeping.
Iris could sense the black magic, but then Rei was there, it was hard to tell whether it came from him or Abby was inflicted by the dark magic.
Liam was still silence, he didn’t say anything and only lowered his head. The elders stared at him with so much venom in their gaze after knowing that the baby in Abby’s stomach was his. No one knew about it, including Rei.
But, the part that was very upsetting was the fact, they didn’t allow Grace to leave and demand her presence here too. She needed to rest!
"She is right there, luna. Where are you going?" Elder Rose asked. She looked disturbed when all of them cramped in this room.
Abby’s bedroom was no small, but with ten people inside and the tension in the air, it felt rather suffocating.
Iris didn’t even want to answer the question, as she told Jace to lay Grace down on the sofa and started treating her wound first. The healer looked so pale and blood kept oozing out from her wounds.
"You should treat the Serafim," Elder Dandolf reminded Iris, but he was being ignored too.
Jace did what Iris told him to do and put Grace down on the sofa gently. After that, she healed her. At first, blood stopped oozing out and then her wounds closed in.
Everything happened under Rei’s watchful eyes. He crossed his arms and didn’t miss even single movement from Iris.
It took only ten minutes and once Iris was done, she went to Abby. Her movement was very swift and she was being eerily quiet, even Lou didn’t dare to disturb her.
Meanwhile, Cane looked around his surroundings. He fixed his eyes on Rei and then Liam, who remained silent the entire time. There was something amiss with the whole situation, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.
First, Iris took Abby’s hand and checked on her. The Serafim was obviously still alive, but she was very weak and thankfully, the baby was fine. Yet, there was something that disturbed her divine power.
"I want you to leave the room," Iris said, her eyes were on Rei.
"How dare you make a demand?!" Elder Xarex growled and Jace growled back at him dangerously, the beta was being fierce right now.
"I can’t concentrate because he is reeked of black magic," Iris said coldly. She didn’t hold back too when she added more. "I wonder how could you people so proudly say that you are holy when you sheltered someone who has been practicing black magic for centuries. Don’t you feel ashamed of yourself?"
"We have our own history! It is not your place to judge us!" Elder Xarex roared angrily, while Rei looked very calm, though he was the one that Iris offended.
"Do you even need to be judged? Shit doesn’t need to be judged to know it’s bad, everyone, even the stupid ones automatically know that." Left it to Lou to fire an insult.
But, before Elder Xarex could lose it, Rei actually acted wise enough to leave the room on his own, which only added Cane’s suspicion to how strange his respond to this situation. The alpha was still observing him.
"It’s okay. I am going to wait outside of the door, I am sorry to disturb your treatment, luna." Rei was very polite when he spoke with Iris.
"No. Wait further away, if you can, leave the pack house for a while, because I still can sense you nearby," Iris replied almost immediately.
It was not sure, whether she really needed him to be away in order to check on Abby, or she simply didn’t want him to be around.
Lou chuckled when he heard that, which was an insult for the elders, since no matter what, Rei was the founder of the Holy Kingdom, they respected him, though they were not on the same faction and was not always on the same page.
Meanwhile, the alpha stared at his mate dotingly, as if he was approving her respond. He couldn’t be more proud of her each day to see how sarcastic his mate could be if you dare enough to provoke her.
"Sure, will do that, luna."
Rei actually obliged and then left the room, while the elders looked very displeased with this situation, but Liam was still the same. He lowered his head down and didn’t say anything.
