Chapter 939: THE FINAL BATTLE (5)

Iris was consumed with rage. She was seeing red when she watched how Rei acted like he led this war against Decratic.

But, because of her anger, she failed to see those monsters, who marched toward them. The monsters from hell.

Iris didn’t even realize how the ground beneath her split into two, letting out the red smoke of the poisonous miasma, while the fissure was getting bigger. It almost looked like it would create a cliff.

Iris was knocked to the side when the ground beneath her cracked and she almost fell into the fissure. Rei saw this too and he immediately marched toward her, without knowing that Iris intended to kill him for killing her people.

"Are you, okay?" Rei looked worried about her wellbeing, it reminded Iris of the memory when he looked very concern after he hit her mother. The sight was very disgusting. "Decratic has made his move. We need to strike back and..."

But, before he could do anything, Iris had used the black wisp to stab him. Fortunately for Rei, he had a great reflex and could dodge it in time, but the lycan immediately jumped on him. Lu saw this as a clue, as a permission to attack this bastard, so of course, he wouldn’t let go of this opportunity. He had been wanting to tear this man apart.

"Stop it!" Elder Dandolf got involved, he created a protection around Rei just in time before Lu could claw his chest.

Of course, this was upset the lycan, but before he could fight back, the Nefilim and the other monsters had reached their spot and they were forced to deal with them first.

Iris couldn’t care less about Rei and the rest, as she put protection shield around her, Lu, Aliana and Ethan, while Rei and his people dealt with the monsters.

It was not a surprise to see how Rei managed to control the dragon. Iris was sure that back then, one of the dragons that attack Lu was not even out of control. Rei intentionally loosened his control over the creature.

"How is she?" Ethan asked, fear etched on his face. He had tasted this feeling before when he thought he was going to lose Aliana, but it was still as dreadful.

Iris currently continued to heal Aliana, she kept her focus on her because she could feel her hatred toward Rei gave Decratic new energy. The crack on the ground was getting bigger and the poisonous miasma became thicker.

"She will be fine," Iris said after a few hours of trying to get rid of the spiderlings inside of her body.

The battle was still going on between Rei and his people against the monsters. From the look of it, he had released the knights from their illusion, thus they could fight these monsters.

However, Iris didn’t have any desire to help them at all. She was safe within this protection, more so, Rei made sure no monsters would be able to get close to Iris. He protected her, which made her felt sick in her stomach.

Once again, Rei used the ashes of the spiderlings he got from the cocoons that had been burned by the dragon, which consisted with the warriors, to control the monsters. This was his main goal to deem the warriors into such tragic ending, so he could use them in this way.

Neither Cane nor Iris knew that he could do such thing, they didn’t even know this kind of method was existed in the first place. Or else, they wouldn’t have let this man got close to them. Cane and Lou might have concocted a plan to kill him in the first chance given.

Rei killed some of the monsters and tamed, controlled some of them, which in a way it gave him more power, adding to his forces, while he weakened Iris’s people and forced her to rely on his power instead.

Cane failed to read this movement, because everything happened almost at the same time and magic was not the field he knew very well.

"She will be fine... she will be fine..." Iris repeated the word, she leaned over and hugged Aliana. She had lost so many people, she was not going to lose her too.

The spirit of the fallen warriors had disappeared and just like what had happened to them before... they couldn’t grieve properly. They didn’t even have time to discern their emotions about the lose of their loved one and had to keep moving forward and think of a way to survive this war.

This leaving Iris with turmoil, because she had to keep her heart pure, she couldn’t hate Rei for killing her people. How she could do that?

"She will be fine, she will be fine..." Iris repeated the word, as if she was hanging onto that. She was not going to lose anyone anymore.

But, the night was still long and this battle was even longer... No one knew, who else she was going to lose...

On the other hand, Lou watched how the Sylph started to fade away, which weakened the protection around them, because they couldn’t use its power anymore.

"What happened with that air spirit?" Jace asked, he gritted his teeth when there was a crack on their protection. From the look of it, this shield wouldn’t be able to protect them from the attack for any longer.

Most of the monsters went toward Rei and the people from the Holy Kingdom’s direction, but there were so many of them and they kept coming, which made it unavoidable that they became a target too.

Cedric pulled Abby behind his back, as he withdrew his sword. Protecting her like he used to.

"Iris must have seen the fallen warriors’ spirit, it must have upset her." Lou understood how thing worked with Iris’s power more than anyone here, but not like usual, he didn’t seem to brag about that. It bothered him to know how devastated Iris was right now.

They were silent for a while, until Jace gave an order.

"Be ready for a fight!" The beta was also worried about his little sister and the gamma. The night was so gloomy and with the rain that kept pouring down, it made their visibility shorter, more so, it took their ability to sense anything in the air, all the scents were washed away by the rain.

Behind Jace, all the warriors shifted into their beast form and not long after that, the shield could no longer hold the attack from outside and it shattered.

"Damn it! Damn it!" Lou cursed under his breath when he watched how a Nefilim crushed three beasts in one movement and the other monsters that he had never seen, sucked the blood out of the warriors, some of them killed the warriors in the most brutal way by using their sharp claws.

This was a chaos, the only strategy they had was to stick together and don’t get yourself killed, which didn’t really help at all.

Decratic knew how to use his puppet, he himself had not yet appeared since the beginning and let these monsters to deal with them first, killing as much as they could.
