Initially, Lou thought, his fire would be enough, but as it turned out, it was not that easy to destroy Decratic’s body.
This devil creature had a thick body that filled with black magic and it was as hard as stone. Lou’s fire couldn’t even burn it.
Therefore, it took the four of them, the chosen protectors of the Serafim to get rid of him. They used their divine power and even so, it took them more than five hours to really purge his body.
While the four of them had to focus on the task at hand, Cane had to find the other two pillars to stop the poisonous miasma and the monsters emerged from the fissures on the ground.
They couldn’t rest just yet.
"Stay with Iris," Cane said to Jace and Ethan, while he would go with Zephyr and the remaining warriors. Because Lu was the only existence that could sense the pillar, thus Cane had to leave Iris in the other’s care.
He didn’t like the idea, but the situation didn’t allow him to stay by her side.
The monsters had vanished because of Decratic’s backlash, but the fissures were still there and even though the backlash wiped out the red smoke that threatened to kill them, as far as the fissures still existed, the red smoke started to appear again.
Unfortunately, just like how the backlash had eradicated everything, it killed all the surviving warriors, only a few of them managed to avoid the mass murder.
Lil Thing managed to get away from the backlash with Derick on its back, also a dozen of warriors that followed the white bear to survive.
It was devastating to know that they could no longer see their fellow warriors, not even their remaining was left. Everything had turned into dust. Thousand of warriors had fallen and the survivors could only star at the desert, which became a mass grave for their friends.
They joined the alpha and Zephyr later on to find the pillar.
There were two pillars and they had to find those two soon before the poisonous miasma spread far like before and killed all of them.
================================
Letto protected the sixteen little girls, as they fled from the palace. They reached Celestial Moon pack just in time before the backlash occurred and managed to survive, as they hid inside a cave near the Untouched Land.
"Don’t worry. Don’t worry. We will be fine," Letto said, as he consoled the two younger girls, who were crying, while the rest of them looked resigned.
They didn’t seem to care whether they survived of this or not. For children around their age to give up to life, it told a lot about what they had gone through.
From where they were staying, they could hear the thunderous sound of the backlash, as the ground rattled and the harsh wind carried the smell of death.
Letto didn’t know how long they stayed inside there, but when everything became a little bit calmer, he went out to check out the situation, he left the girls inside the cave and let Annie be in charge of them.
"I will not go for long. Stay here with the other, okay?" Letto didn’t touch her, most of the girls hated to be touched, especially with man.
"Okay," Annie said in small voice.
Letto looked hesitant when he wanted to speak again, but he needed to tell her about this. "Just in case, I didn’t return. Just in case." He emphasized this words, because he could see how Annie’s face had turned ashen. "Just in case I didn’t return, you need to go to Golden Light pack. Luna Iris said there are her people there. You and the other will be fine and taken care of."
Annie bit her lip. "Okay." She nodded. "But, you have to comeback too."
"I will. I will."
With that Letto left the cave, but little did he know someone could smell their scent from inside the cave and it guided him to them...
Meanwhile, Cane and his small party headed toward the Celestial Moon pack, because there was where he could feel the pillar.
The alpha was in rush to get it done, so he could return to his mate. Even though Iris was considerably safe with his beta and gamma, also her four protectors, who currently purged Decratic’s body, but he was still unable to bring himself away from her.
The mate bond was no longer there. It felt weird without it, as if there was this hollow in his heart, making him anxious when he was away from her, as if he was going to lose her.
The other beasts were having a hard time to follow their alpha’s pace.
On their way to the Celestial Moon pack, before they could reach the Untouched land, the alpha spotted the pillar. It was a young man. From his scent, he was not a shifter.
However, Cane couldn’t be sure if he was not a magic user, since he saw him with Dexter once in the past. This was a young man, who used to follow the black magic user, thus he took a precaution approached against him.
The young man caught a sight of the beasts, but he thought they didn’t see him, so he hid behind a tree. He must have forgotten that his scent had given away his presence to the shifters.
"Come out." Cane shifted into his human form and the sight of him making Letto emerged from his hiding spot.
"You are alpha Cane," Letto said cautiously. He showed himself, but he didn’t come over. The beasts were very intimidating, but this alpha was a whole different story. Being this close with him alone was already very suffocating.
Cane stared at him. "You need to come with me," he said finally after a long silent. He could sense his fear and told the warriors to back down, creating comfortable distance for Letto, so he could be less nervous in this discussion.
