The Devil's Betrothed novel Chapter 259

Chapter 259: Did It Hurt?

The wizard struggled to breathe, but no matter what he did, he remained helpless, unable to escape from the dangerous man in front of him. He realized that it was impossible for this man to be human.

How could he not see through him? Could it be this powerful man was wearing an ancient artifact that could conceal his real race?

The next moment, Arlan and that wizard disappeared from the alley, only to appear far away from the city, at a deserted place in a nearby forest. He threw that wizard on the ground like a piece of trash. The wizard crawled on the ground, wanting to escape, but before he could utter an incantation, a sword pierced through his right leg, causing him to scream out in pain.

"Ahhhhhhh!"

Not even three seconds later, the tip of the sword pierced through the wizard’s palm, pinning it to the ground.

"S-Stop! Have mercy—-"

"If I hear you try to chant a spell to escape, I will cut off your other leg next. Do you understand?"

Arlan, who seemed to enjoy his hunt, kneeled on one leg and appreciated the sight of the man begging for his life.

In the eyes of the wizard, the gentle smile on his face made Arlan look like a devil.

"Do I need to ask obvious questions or will you say everything on your own? Trust me, I am quite skilled in the art of torture, but since I can’t delay going back to my companion, I shall be gracious enough to spare you from that. Do not waste my kindness."

As if to prove his point, Arlan rotated the tip of the sword piercing the wizard’s palm, causing him to cry out in pain.

"Last chance," Arlan warned.

The wizard could see the impatience in his eyes and spoke, "I-I was told to keep an eye on your servant. I know nothing else."

"By who?"

"Our leader, he is a wizard as well."

"And why does your leader want you to spy on my servant?"

"I-I don’t know. He never tells us why. Only I have to report to him your servant’s whereabouts. We just follow the leader’s order."

Arlan frowned. "You useless creature."

He pulled out his sword from the wizard’s hand, only to bring it back down, this time having it pierce through his throat.

"As you could not tell anything useful, I believe you have no use for this throat."

After Arlan pulled out his sword, he rolled that wizard away with a kick. The corpse tumbled towards the bushes. In an hour or two, a wild animal would enjoy a good feast.

Arlan pulled out a handkerchief and used it to wipe the blood off his sword. He put it back in its scabbard before throwing the handkerchief away. He could not wait to go back to Oriana and disappeared from his spot.

Inside the fancy restaurant, Oriana began to squirm in her seat in discomfort. The delicious food tasted bland as she worried about where he had gone to and why he was not back yet.

’It’s been about half an hour...’

The moment she saw the familiar figure walking towards her, unknown to her, a lovely smile brightened her face

Arlan felt warmth spread in his chest at the sight of her welcoming smile. freewebnøvel.com

’Is she that happy to see me back? Seems like getting blood on my hand didn’t go to waste.’
