The Devil's Betrothed novel Chapter 323

Chapter 323: Think About Me Only

Arlan’s hand gently caressed the back of her head, his fingers tangling with her beautiful hair. His other hand rested at the small of her back, drawing her closer against his body, leaving not an inch space between them.

He intensified the kiss, his hand exerting gentle pressure at the back of her head to keep her steady. Their tongues engaged in a sweet dance of intimacy, while her delicate body remained pressed against his firm chest, allowing her to feel the erratic rhythm of his heartbeat. The heat emanating from his body was scorching.

Oriana’s hands held firm around his neck as she savored that kiss, letting that greedy tongue of his to have way with hers. Her soft moans echoed in his ears, making him craving for more.

The world around them seemed to blur into insignificance, a shared understanding flowing between them without the need of words. After what felt like an eternity to her, he finally released her. Breathless, with her body feeling somewhat limp due to lack of air, she leaned into his hand. If not for Arlan’s hand holding her steady, she would have probably lost her footing.

Allowing her to catch her breath, Arlan held her even closer in his warm embrace, feeling the heavy breathing against his chest with a satisfied smile on his face. He was the one to turn her like this, weak and breathless, and only he was allowed to.

"Are you alright?" she heard him ask.

Struggling to find her voice, she simply nodded, only to hear him respond, "You better be, because we’re not done yet."

His response made her tense up. He had promised not to cross the line, but his words made her imagine what he had not even said.

This man could be so domineering at times.

Arlan used this moment to regain his own composure, waiting until the golden scales on his skin to fade before signaling for her to open her eyes. When he felt ready, he eased back slightly, took her hand, and softly instructed, "You can open your eyes now."

Oriana complied, but the world seemed darker than before, tempting her to shut her eyes once more. He gently nudged her to start walking, but she remained rooted in place.

"I can’t see anything," she admitted weakly.

Arlan closed the distance between them and suddenly, she was lifted off the ground.

"W-What are you doing?" She attempted to struggle. "Put me down."

Undeterred, Arlan continued walking. "It’s not the first time I’ve carried you in my arms."

Oriana closed her eyes; it hurt to look around when she could see nothing. She felt him climbing a few steps and realized he was carrying her inside the gazebo by the lake, which she had noticed before everything suddenly turned darker.

’How can he move with ease even in the dark? Has he been trained to be like those skilled warriors with heightened senses, who can fight even in darkness? He is a prince. He must have gone through such rigorous training as well...’

While she was lost in her thoughts, he had already placed her on her feet and pushed her against a pillar in the gazebo next to them.

"Ah! What—"

Even before she could say another word, her lips were roughly covered by an impatient kiss. The roughness caused her to be taken aback.

Just moments ago, he was so gentle. Why the sudden change?
