She pressed her lips in thin line as she looked at him with worry. The next moment she removed her jacket and shirt and put them aside, leaving herself in her chest band and pants she was wearing.
Without a second thought, she slipped beneath the blanket, wrapping her arms around the prince’s trembling form, trying to provide him a warmth from her body. It was the basic thing to do when there was a need.
’Perhaps, not only my body warmth but my affinity as a black witch might aid in countering the effects of this dark magic,’ she contemplated, determined to do whatever it took to alleviate his suffering.
Gradually, she sensed his body stopped trembling. She couldn’t help but be surprised. Clinging tightly to him, her arms securely wrapped around his form, she gazed at his now serene face, absent of any furrowed brows.
’It’s working much faster than I expected. Even though I shared my body warmth, the effect should have taken longer,’ she mused. A certain realization began to take root in her mind.
’Is it because I am a Black Witch?’
She observed him once more and he looked very comfortable with her next to him. There was no sign of pain on his face.
’It sure is connected to me being a black witch. I don’t understand the ’why’ or ’how’, but it seems to have lessened the grip of the evil black magic on his body.’
With this newfound insight, the young witch refused to release her hold on him, drifting into slumber while ensuring his comfort remained her utmost priority.
As dawn broke, Arlan was the first to awaken, greeted by a truly unexpected sight the moment he opened his eyes—a beautiful, peaceful face, fast asleep and facing him. However, his morning astonishment didn’t end there. His gaze wandered downward, drawn by an enchanting curiosity.
In her slumber, she had inadvertently cast aside the blanket, exposing her delicate form to the man beside her. His eyes trailed from her graceful neck, down to the chest band that securely encased her, granting tantalizing glimpses of soft curves beneath. Further south, her shapely waist, adorned in fair, unshielded skin, lay open to his gaze.
He couldn’t help but swallow hard, her presence stirring undeniable excitement within him. Reluctantly, he redirected his gaze to her face, his focus landing on her plump lips. Desire pulsed through him, but he halted, realizing something that her mere presence had caused him to forget.
’So she had seen me like that again previous night.’
He shut his eyes briefly, not pleased by the fact that she had seen him at his most vulnerable state for the second time. He could only curse at himself for that. A man would never want his woman to see him in such a pathetic state.
When he finally opened his eyes, Arlan found Oriana’s sleepy eyes looking at him. She was awake already when he was busy frowning at himself.
Seeing those frown lines and destress in his eyes, Oriana misunderstood that Arlan was in pain.
Without hesitation, she swiftly sat up in bed and leaned closer to him, her concern evident as she inquired, "Your Highness, are you feeling unwell?"
Lying in bed, Arlan observed the anxious woman, who was half naked and was daringly sitting in his bed, so close at that.
Before he could utter a word, she reached for his hand and held it firmly, her focus shifting to check his pulse.
"Pulse appears normal," she remarked, her brows furrowing in contemplation. Arlan’s gaze, however, remained drawn to her half-naked, alluring form.
"Hmm? Why is your pulse rate suddenly rising?" she questioned, her eyes filled with concern as she released his hand and leaned in to examine his eyes, not knowing the further closeness would only affect the man more.
"Everything seems fine," she mumbled in confusion.
The close proximity only served to quicken his heartbeat even more, leaving Arlan flustered and uncertain.
"It’s not the first time I’ve seen you like this, so don’t overreact," Arlan admonished. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
