Chapter 456: Inflicting Pain On Peasant

In response to her master’s summons, Karla entered the room with her head bowed. "Yes, master?" she inquired, deferential in her posture.

"I called you here for a reason," Oriana explained, opening the vial in front of Karla.

Recognizing the vial, Karla wondered what it was doing in Oriana’s possession.

"Your master has given me this for my personal use, to punish those who might trouble me. However, I am uncertain if it works, so I need to test it," Oriana explained, conjuring another kettle of tea and a cup to replace the ones destroyed in her earlier fit of anger.

Putting a single drop in the empty cup, Oriana directed her words to Edna, "You mentioned that one drop is sufficient."

Meanwhile, Karla felt a sense of foreboding, as if she could anticipate what was unfolding. Oriana proceeded to pour tea into the cup, stirring it gently to blend the liquid with the drop. Fixing her gaze on Karla, she remarked, "You are fortunate to be offered a drink personally by the Queen of this Kingdom. Lucky peasant."

Oriana’s words confirmed Karla’s suspicions, prompting her to take a hesitant step back. "I... I’m not inclined to drink the tea, your highness."

Oriana offered a wicked smirk. "When the Queen extends an offer, you must accept it, even if it happens to be poison."

Karla looked toward Edna, who, in response, walked toward the darkness and urged, "Drink it, Karla."

"But, Master..."

"You won’t die," Edna’s voice echoed in the room before she vanished into the darkness. Her parting words lingered, "You know the punishment for disobedience."

Shivering in fear, Karla accepted the cup from Oriana. Memories flooded her mind—recollections of administering the same punishment to Queen Julien, of enduring a night filled with pain and agony at Edna’s command. The blood curse couldn’t affect the Queen, so when Edna decided to punish the entire royal family, Karla was tasked with administering this torment to Julien.

As Karla drank, Oriana observed her body collapsing in agony on the floor, her cries resonating in the room. Unmoved, Oriana picked up the vial, a wicked satisfaction on her face. "Seems like it really works."

Turning towards the darkness, Oriana declared, "See you on the night of the new moon, Edna." Then, eyeing her table and chair, she added, "This is mine, so I’ll take it with me. Besides, this beautiful set of white furniture doesn’t suit the dark and lifeless atmosphere in this room." With the flick of her fingers, the things she brought disappeared in thin air.

Without a trace of compassion for the woman writhing in pain, Oriana left the room, the agonized cries of Karla fading behind the closed door—a discordant melody to Oriana’s ears.

As Oriana departed the hallway, her countenance shifted, and a pang of sympathy for the Queen gripped her. Over the span of two decades, how many times had Queen Julien had to drink it, how much suffering had she endured in silence?

’That Karla,’ Oriana seethed inwardly, ’I will make her drink every drop from the vial.’

Upon arriving at Erich’s mansion and encountering Yorian, the elf looked at her expectantly. "Did you get it?"

Oriana nodded and extended her hand, revealing the beautifully crafted bracelet of skillfully woven threads on her wrist. However, a sense of dejection clouded her expression. "Such a beautiful bracelet, and I had to use it to soak in her rotten blood of that witch. What a waste."

The elf chuckled, "Do not worry; I will make another one for you." He gently removed that bracelet from her wrist and said, "For now acquiring her blood is important."

"Are you certain you can extract her blood from this, Lord Yorian?" Oriana inquired, a hint of doubt in her voice.
