The Devil's Betrothed novel Chapter 481

Chapter 481: Awake

Arlan returned to Wildridge manor. All the work he had to do was shifted to Wildridge manor. While working he kept looking after Oriana.

As there were no female servants in the Wildridge manor, Oriana’s lady-in-waiting Ana and the two more personal servants were called to attend to Oriana.

Oriana’s guest mansion was informed that she would not return for a few days. Commander Conor Loyset was informed by the King and he resumed his duty by King’s side.

Two days passed by in the blink of an eye and Oriana was yet to be awake. Yorian was always there checking on her once in a while along with Drayce’s short visits daily in order to help Arlan and Oriana heal. freёweɓnovel.com

On the third day-

"Your wound is almost healed and your power must have started working now," Drayce spoke as he inspected the wound on Arlan’s chest.

Alran nodded and buttoned up his shirt, "I can use it to half of its original extent."

"Try not to use them at all so it won’t interfere with the healing of this wound," Drayce advised.

Arlan nodded again. Anyways, he was used to living as a human and lived without having to use his power. If it was not for Oriana’s arrival in his life, he would have continued to live as a human only.

Yorian scried through Oriana’s body and her energy core and informed, "Her body has recovered and her unstable energy core is stable now with the help of King Drayce’s darkness. She shall wake up soon in a day or two.

Arlan felt relieved to hear it, though worried what would happen when she would wake up.

The grand palace of Griven stood poised to welcome esteemed delegates from neighboring kingdoms, all converging to celebrate the wedding of the Crown Prince of Griven. Every corner echoed with the fervent activity of servants meticulously ensuring that every detail was impeccable.

For two days, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess had vanished from sight, leaving a void that sparked whispers throughout the palace corridors. The King and Queen, however, maintained an inscrutable silence, refusing to lend credence to the mounting speculations that had even permeated the esteemed noble families of the capital.

Among the nobility, reactions were mixed—concern mingled with opportunism. For those eyeing the power to throne, the absence of the Crown Princess opened a tantalizing possibility: without Crown Princess in case she is dead, their daughters could vie for the Crown Prince’s favor, potentially securing a path to the kingdom’s highest honor.

Those noble families that held high regards in the royal court were aware of Prince Arlan’s deep-seated animosity towards the Verner family. Given this backdrop, whispers intensified, with some speculating that the Prince might have orchestrated harm upon his betrothed to cancel their wedding. So many speculations were made and none were aware of the real reason.

While the families had started to make future plans for their daughters, the daughters were no exception. Who would not like to marry the Crown Prince, Prince Arlan.

On the other hand, the people close to Arlan were worried to hear these rumors. Arthur and Nathaniel arrived at the wildridge manor on the third day. Arlan didn’t stop his two close friends from entering the manor while others were far from even being able to come closer to the manor’s boundaries.

Nestled in the expansive lounge area, Arthur broached the unsettling topic, "Whispers abound that the Crown Princess has vanished from the palace. Some suggest you’ve orchestrated her disappearance to evade the marriage."

A heavy sigh escaped Arlan’s lips, betraying his awareness of the circulating tales.

"Cromwell," Arthur pressed, his tone edged with concern, "tell me you haven’t done something reckless."

Arlan met Arthur’s gaze squarely. "She’s safe, and yes, she’s here, in this very manor."

"Here?" Arthur exclaimed, turning to Nathaniel with a triumphant nod. "You see? Your prized wine collection wasn’t sacrificed in vain."

Puzzled, Arlan sought to decipher his friends’ insinuations. Nathaniel leaned forward, his voice earnest, "By allowing her refuge here, you’ve revealed her significance to you. It’s clear you harbor no genuine animosity toward her. After all, not just anyone gains entry to this manor."

Arlan nodded, finally addressing the unspoken truths. "You’re both correct. She holds a special place in my heart, and I would never bring her harm. I urge you both to dismiss these baseless rumors."
