Chapter 507: The Lord’s Plan

Far from Griven, Rosetta stood by the window, gazing at the brooch clutched in her hand. It was the very brooch Oriana had gifted her. Though Oriana’s intentions had been deceptive at the time, Rosetta had accepted it to decipher the young witch’s true intentions. Despite its tainted origins, the gift held a precious place in Rosetta’s heart, and she had kept it close.

’After Tracia, it’s the first time someone has given me a gift," she mused, a faint smile touching her lips. "She is now married to a Dragon. Perhaps it’s for the best. A Dragon can provide her with protection in times of danger. She is more than just a Queen of witches; she’s something beyond that, and it may not bode well for her. For now she is better away from the Witch clan as everyone would just try to take advantage of the young Queen who doesn’t understand the dangers of the world of supernaturals.’ She scoffed inwardly, ’I am not different from who wants to take advantage of her. But I will make sure nothing would harm her.’

As she continued to caress that brooch, she questioned, ’I wonder if she’s aware of the deal I struck with the Prince. He is someone important to her. Will she despise me once she learns of it?’

Suddenly, she felt moisture on her cheek and reached up to confirm it. To her surprise, she discovered tears in her eyes. She stared at her dampened fingertips, pondering when she had last shed tears. It had likely been centuries ago, when Tracia had died before her eyes, and she had been powerless to intervene.

The memories of that hurtful day surged back into her mind, where she had screamed desperately to defend Tracia’s innocence.

"Elder, listen to me! Tracia is innocent. She’s being framed. Please, do not punish her. Give me some time, and I will prove her innocence. I implore you; she’s but a child..."

Her pleas had fallen on deaf ears, and Tracia had been punished right before her eyes. Never had she felt such helplessness, questioning why she hadn’t possessed the strength to protect those she cared for. Was being a Black Witch an inherent sin, condemning her and her kind to be forever seen as wicked?

Since that day, she had resolved to harness her power and seize control over every aspect of her life, to become strongest of all. Revenge burned within her against those who had wronged not only her but her entire clan. If they believed Black Witches were inherently wicked, she was determined to prove them right, to show them the true depths of wickedness.

As the memories of pain resurfaced, Zaria brushed away the tears from her cheek. "I cannot allow Oriana to sway me," she whispered to herself. ’I won’t abandon the plans I’ve cultivated for so long. It won’t be long before I achieve them.’

The sadness in her eyes transformed into unwavering determination. ’I will avenge all those I’ve lost," she vowed, her voice resolute. "For Tracia, her unjust death will not have been in vain.’

In another realm, the realm of Demons.

Within a chamber shrouded in darkness, faintly illuminated by a sparse scattering of lamps, a towering figure occupied a magnificent throne carved out from dark stone. Even in the dark, the stone’s surface shimmered with red as if it had numeropus crimson veins pulsating and sparkly blood flowing through them.

Amid the disconcerting stillness of the throne hall, the hollow echo of footsteps reverberated as a second imposing figure, clad in somber attire akin to a warrior’s garb, entered through the massive doors.

Halting at a respectful distance from the throne, the newcomer bowed deeply. "My Lord."

Though the figure on the throne remained ensconced in shadow, his penetrating gaze seemed to bore into the man. A hand rested casually on the armrest as he inquired, "Any progress, Xyron?"

Xyron shook his head with an air of familiarity, as if this were a recurring conversation. "We still believe that only the Princess possesses the ability to breach the barrier, given that it’s woven from her own powers."

Silence descended upon the hall once more.
