Arlan and Oriana arrived at the royal court where all the ministers were already assembled, awaiting the King. Oriana felt relieved that they had arrived on time. It was her first time entering the royal court. She stepped through the majestic doors and walked down the aisle, her eyes roamed the enigmatic interiors.
The court was a grand spectacle of opulence and authority, reflecting the kingdom’s wealth and the monarch’s absolute power. The room was vast, with a high, vaulted ceiling adorned with massive chandeliers crafted from enchanted crystals hung from the ceiling. Sunlight streamed through the windows, dancing across the polished marble floor. The courtroom walls were lined with towering columns, beautifully carved and embedded with gold and gemstones.
At the far end of the room stood the throne, a magnificent seat carved from a single piece of ancient oak, inlaid with intricate designs that depicted the kingdom’s love for nature. The throne was cushioned with the finest silks and velvets in gold and crimson. In the center of the room, a large circular emblem, the royal crest of an oak tree, was crafted from gold and silver and embedded in the marble floor.
Long rows of seats for nobles and courtiers lined the sides of the room. In front of the throne stood a large, ornately carved wooden table where advisors and ministers would present their reports and petitions. Guards in gleaming armor adorned with the royal insignia stood at attention around the room, a constant reminder of the king’s authority and the law of the land.
"It’s beautiful," Oriana mumbled softly.
"It’s all yours," Arlan replied in a low voice.
A light smile painted her lips. She was not yet the queen, but this man claimed everything was already hers. She wondered if her grandfather, when he was king, had also owned such a place where only his words held authority.
Everyone bowed to the Crown Prince and Princess as they walked down the aisle to their seats, which were closest to the throne and slightly elevated above those of the other royal court members. Arlan had always sat in his place alone, but today his wife would sit beside him, declaring her status as the Crown Princess of the Kingdom and the future Queen.
Arlan guided Oriana to her seat, holding her hand before taking his place next to her. As Oriana settled into her chair, she felt a glare directed at her and looked up to see Grace standing next to her father in the opposite row.
In response to Grace’s glare, Oriana offered her a playful smirk and a wink. Grace’s eyes widened in shock as she glanced around, expecting others to notice what Oriana did, but everyone was engrossed in conversation with those around them.
Grace fumed silently, thinking what kind of Crown Princess would act so lowborn as to wink publicly, especially in the Royal Court filled with ministers. Oriana surely didn’t deserve the title of Crown Princess.
Oriana delighted in Grace’s reaction. Looking directly into Grace’s eyes, Oriana let her gaze drift to Grace’s neck, covered by a delicate scarf. Smirking mockingly, Oriana glanced at her own hand, pretending it was ready to strangle Grace once more.
instinctively, Grace’s hands moved to her neck, the memory of almost being choked still fresh and frightening.
Though Arlan wasn’t looking at Grace, he was acutely aware of his wife’s actions. He leaned in closer and whispered, "Don’t scare her already. It’s going to be a long session at the Royal Court."
"I was just warming her up so she won’t be surprised later," Oriana replied. "My hand is still itching to strangle her neck and break it nicely."
"You are getting dangerous."
She blinked innocently. "It’s not me, but that demoness who wants to do it."
