Chapter 628: Dowry From A Brother

The royal court session was over, and everyone departed for their respective destinations. Oriana and Arlan, accompanied by Jasper, Slayer, and two new lords from the northeast, headed toward the palace of Thistle. Someone awaited their arrival.

Inside the carriage, Oriana sat beside Arlan, who gently caressed her hand.

"Someone was quite bold today," Arlan remarked with an amused smile.

Oriana met his gaze. "Didn’t you like it?"

"I did, and now I’m eager to see you surprise me in another bold way," his eyes glinting with meaning. "You have no idea what was going through my mind at that moment."

"And what was that?" she asked softly, her voice intentionally seductive.

He leaned in closer, his eyes locking with hers. "Images of how I’ll torment you tonight, how you’ll beg for mercy but I won’t let you go, how..."

"I got it," she interrupted, covering his mouth with her hand. Though she had intended to tease him, she realized he could outmatch her in shamelessness.

He gently removed her hand. "I barely said two lines. Don’t you want to know what new things I have in mind for you?"

Determined not to blush or feel shy, she changed the subject. "Didn’t you say King Drayce is waiting for us?"

"He’ll understand if we’re late," Arlan replied with a mischievous grin.

"But I want to talk to him," she insisted.

"Alright. I can’t dare disobey a demoness; the next moment I might find my soul being dragged to the depths of hell."

She chuckled. "I wouldn’t even do that to you..."

"That’s a relief then..."

"As long as you only have me in your heart," she interrupted him. "If you lay eyes on another woman, I will drag both your souls to the depths of hell and torment you with my own hands."

Arlan felt like laughing. He bet there was no other woman in the world who would threaten the man she loves in such a manner. How possessive this demoness must be, maybe even more than his own possessive nature.

"I wouldn’t dare," he replied with a light chuckle. "Rest assured, you are my mate."

As he said this, Oriana remembered something she had been contemplating for a while. "Where is your dragon tattoo?"

He raised an eyebrow. "You haven’t seen it?"

She shook her head. "I’ve never seen it. If I’m your mate, I should be able to see it."

"You must have missed checking my body properly. How about once we’re alone, you find out for yourself if there’s a tattoo? I’d be pleased to be stripped naked by you."

She narrowed her eyes at him. "You’re being a pervert."

"You’re the one who’s curious, and I’m showing you a way. If you don’t want to, then let it be," he said, feigning innocence. "Whether there’s a tattoo or not, it won’t change the fact that you are my mate."

"No, that won’t do. I am really curious to see the tattoo. I envied Seren when she said there’s a tattoo on King Drayce’s neck, and she told me the King of Agartha has one on his heart. And only mates can see those tattoos. I want to see one as well."

"Then you know what to do. But let me tell you, I haven’t seen any on my body yet," Arlan informed her.

"Not seen? Are you not a Dragon?"

"I am, but as far as I’ve checked my own body, I haven’t found one."

"There should be one. Seren says every Dragon has one," she said, feeling worried. "Have you checked properly? Maybe it’s on your back, and you can’t see it."

"That could be the case, as I’m not an owl that can rotate my neck entirely to check my back," he replied.

"I’ll check it for you then," she assured him.

"Remember, I’m not the one asking you to check my body."

"Alright. It’s me who wants to."

A light smirk appeared on his lips. ’Not sure how she’ll feel as there’s no tattoo, but it won’t be wrong to let her have her chance. Moreover, It would be fun to see her stripping me of my clothes.’

They reached Thistle Palace, where Drayce was waiting for them in the drawing room. Everyone greeted Drayce, who was sitting in one of the chairs. Drayce stood up as Arlan spoke, "I hope we haven’t kept you waiting for long."

"I must say the wait was worth it. Finally, you got rid of that monster," Drayce commented as he walked toward Alex, who had his head bowed. He placed his hand on Alex’s shoulder. "You do not have to be so polite. You are a lord now. I’m glad you finally got what you had been seeking for so long, and justice has been served. From now on, we will address you by your true name, Aaron Wynter."
