"Have you thought about expressing it to Lucian?" Rowan asked, earning approving gaze from his brothers. "He seems to be a blockhead in this regard. Maybe, once you say it....There is nothing wrong if woman confesses her feelings first. You are not a typical woman to think for a man to make a first move..."
"No," Erin shook her head, "I know he doesn’t feel that way about me, and I do not wish to make things awkward between us when I am marrying his brother. After I tell him how I feel about him, if he still rejects me, how am I going to face him as his brother’s wife? Let things be the way they are," she said firmly. "After spending time with Aaron, I believe I will be fine with him. I am not an emotional fool but know how to think rationally."
"You have thought it all through," Rowan commented.
"Yes," she replied with determination.
Rowan looked at Euron and Rafal for their opinions.
"If you think you will be happy with Aaron, then we have no objection," Euron said, to which Rafal nodded in agreement.
"Just one thing is left, which I still want to happen," Euron added. "You have to go to the northeast and see if your body can stand the weather there. I would not accept no for an answer. I do not want my sister to end up like our aunt did. Father still has regrets about it, and I don’t want us three brothers to have any such regrets. We will protect you at all costs; you are the only sister we have."
"I agree with this as well," Rafal spoke, and Rowan nodded in concurrence.
"I will do as you say," Erin agreed, feeling a sense of relief as her brothers finally trusted her.
After coaxing her for a while and apologizing for upsetting her, the three brothers prepared to leave. Before departing, Rowan hugged her tightly and said softly, "I know you truly like him, but I trust you will be fine. You are my sister."
"I will be fine." Her eyes turned moist, but she managed a light smile. "I know you love me, but don’t be hostile towards Lucian. He did nothing wrong."
"Still caring for him?" Rowan chuckled softly, "I won’t be hostile, but I do hope someday he would regret his decision."
"His regret would leave us awkward with each other. It’s better he would stay the way he is," she replied.
Rowan patted her head gently, "You have always been a smart person, and we are always so proud of you. Aaron would be fortunate to have you by his side."
"I hope so," she replied with a smile.
The three brothers left her residence. Outside, Rowan commented, "I feel bad that she is hurt and there is nothing we can do. It’s the first time our sister liked something and she can’t have it."
"That something is a person with his own thoughts and emotions, not something you can just buy and give to her," Euron replied.
"We should trust her when she asked us to," Rafal added. "I’ve said it before: Aaron is a good man, just as Erin described him. He won’t restrict her freedom. She clearly has a skill for understanding people."
"Anyways, that blockhead can live in regret," Rowan muttered. "Our sister will be happy, as she has said."
