The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon! novel Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Chapter 5 My Sister, Never Wronged

On the single sofa on one side of the living room, Luca Jennings sat motionless, water stains spreading from the teacup on the table in front of him.

After a long while, he slightly turned his gaze towards Lucas Jennings and spoke in a level tone, but asked, "Scarlett is my daughter, my daughter. Is she not worthy of being your sister?"

The previously brash youth clearly became timid at this moment.

"Uncle, I, I didn't mean that..."

Next to him, Donovan Jennings watched with a smiling gaze as his father subdued the youngster with a look, then turned his head decisively towards Azura Loomis,

"Azura, do you feel wronged living in the Jennings Family?"

Being named directly, Azura's face turned pale at once, hurriedly denying, "No, Brother Donovan, you misunderstand me."

"Since you are not, then don't mention those misunderstandings anymore." Donovan Jennings still wore a smile, his voice warm yet pleasant, but carried an authoritative pressure that made one not dare act rashly.

Azura opened her mouth, hesitated a moment, then lowered her head and dared not speak any further, biting her lip secretly in the moment she bowed her head.

Odessa, standing by, timely spoke to smooth things over, "It's my fault, it's just a room, it shouldn't have caused this."

"It was indeed a bit inappropriate of Second Aunt to arrange it that way." As the eldest grandson of the Jennings Family, Donovan Jennings, even when addressing his elders, never minced his words. "Isolde is my sister, the young lady of the Jennings Family, living in a room converted from someone else's unused nursery would be laughable if word got out."

Saying this, he suddenly wrapped an arm around Scarlett Garrison's shoulders, in a protective manner, "My sister's return home is not to endure this kind of mistreatment."

With that statement, intentional or otherwise, the face of Azura nearby turned red with embarrassment.

She had just implied that she felt wronged to everyone present, and there Donovan Jennings immediately countered by saying that having Scarlett stay in her used room was the real mistreatment.

Wasn't this a slap to her face?

Meanwhile, Scarlett Garrison stiffened noticeably at being suddenly embraced.

It wasn't clear whether it was due to Donovan's action or his words.

In terms of feeling wronged, she really couldn't say much.

Compared to what she suffered at the Garrison Family, those words were nothing.

But this was the first time someone cared whether she felt wronged.

A warmth touched her heart, feeling for the first time what it meant to have a family.

Odessa's face showed obvious embarrassment, but inwardly she cursed Donovan for still not giving her any respect, her gaze shifted subconsciously to Luca Jennings and the elder Mr. Jennings, seeing neither of them speaking, she could only suppress her frustration and forced herself to maintain her composure,

"Donovan is right; it was an oversight on the part of the Second Aunt. I'll have someone rearrange it."

Donovan immediately smiled and nodded at her, "Then, please handle it soon, Second Aunt."

After saying this, he turned to everyone, "I'll take Scarlett for a stroll in the garden."

With that, without caring about others' reactions in the room, he led Scarlett away towards the garden.

After the two left, the atmosphere in the living room visibly sank, Odessa felt extremely aggrieved and opened her mouth to further explain when, at that moment, the butler came in and said to the elder Mr. Jennings,

"Master, the gatekeeper called to say a Mrs. Garrison has come for a visit."
