Cedric's expression darkened immediately. "Did you just call me a spineless lackey? Are you planning to have me arrested? What do you think you're doing?" Cedric demanded angrily.

Cedric was the mayor, and the only reason he humbled himself in front of Matthew was out of respect—for both Matthew and the Juprus Ring.

Joshua, on the other hand, was the same guy who would nod and bow whenever they met, offering to pour Cedric tea and even hold doors open for him when he went to the bathroom. But now, Joshua even dared to call him a spineless lackey.

Joshua, hearing Cedric's voice on the phone, grew even more enraged. "Liar! You still don't believe me? Just wait! In Lambda City, my word still means something. I'll make sure the both of you end up in jail.

When Matthew heard that Joshua was digging himself a deeper hole, he turned his phone's screen toward him. "You want to destroy Cedric, right? Why don't you tell him that to his face?"

Joshua sneered. "I will not look for it. What's the point of talking to a liar? I swear if I don't ruin both of you..."

He trailed off as he glanced at the screen, catching just a glimpse of it. His face paled instantly, and he began stammering. "Mr…Mr. Moore?"

Joshua stood frozen in place, his mouth hanging open in shock, eyes wide with fear and disbelief. His entire body stiffened like a schoolboy who had just been caught red-handed by his teacher. Panic set in, and he had no idea what to do.

Meanwhile, Sophia, still oblivious to who was on the other end of the call, kept yelling, "Just wait for it, Matthew and that liar on the phone! Joshua knows the police chief. You two are done for!"
