Lorraine seemed to have many reservations, which made me feel a bit guilty about my forwardness. I could see the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about having her own studio, which gave me an idea.
"I'm planning to expand the company and create an independent studio division. We need someone to manage it," I said casually.
Lorraine immediately looked over, staring at me in shock. Those pure, crystal-clear eyes were simply enchanting.
"You want me to run it?" she asked hesitantly.
I replied, "Your business acumen and communication skills are excellent. You'd be perfect for the role."
I caught a glimpse of excitement in her eyes before she quickly turned away.
"The others won't be happy about it," she muttered, thinking about her colleagues and shrinking back. She knew they would not approve of her running the studio.
Lorraine understood my intentions. She knew I was worried about her feelings of inadequacy and wanted to help. However, she understood that this was not something that could be fixed with just a studio or a client.
"I appreciate it, Cole, but this is something I need to achieve on my own," she said, looking at me with complete seriousness.
Her response surprised me. After all, most people would have jumped at such an opportunity, and Lorraine was the first person ever to turn me down.
"Are you sure? This is a great opportunity, and you're more than capable of handling it," I persuaded her.
I could sense her resolve weakening slightly. After parking in the garage, I did not rush to leave. Instead, I turned her to face me directly.
"If you agree, I can transfer you immediately. "I know what you're worried about. I'll handle anyone who gossips," I assured her.
"Cole," she said, her tone growing serious as I sat up straighter. "I won't be able to earn their respect this way."
She knew it would be easier if I intervened, and the employees would not complain. Yet that was precisely why she could not accept my help. "We're married now. I can't rely on you for everything."
