The Heartless Ex-Wife novel Chapter 24

Chapter 24 Zackary’s Dance Invitation

Eliezer was driving when he received the photo.

He only glanced at his phone while waiting at a red light, but the ridiculous message made him pick it up properly.

Then he couldn’t look away.

The neonlit vintage sign framed a woman in a modernized evening gown, her high heels stepping through the play of light and shadow. A black suit jacket draped over her shoulders, her slender, pale arm linked with the man beside her. It looked like an oldtime movie poster.

Even though the photo was taken from a distance and only half of her delicate face was visible, it was unmistakable who it was.

And the man she was with was none other than Brayden, the CEO of Lunaris Entertainmentthe same man Eliezer had punched not long ago.

He actually took Lindsey to that kind of place.

Eliezer stared at the photo, unmoving even as the light turned green.

Horns blared behind him. Someone got out of their car and rapped on his window impatiently.

Ignoring them, Eliezer called Zackary back, his face gloomy as he wrenched the steering wheel around and sped off in the opposite direction.

Is she at Ennead Mansion?he asked irritably the moment the call connected.

Zackary, who had just entered the club himself, kept his gaze fixed on the

elegant figure through the crowd as if blind to the pulsing lights and the dancing crowd.

He ordered a drink and drawled, Are you blind? You can’t event recognize the place?

That massive Ennead Mansion sign was hard to miss, and it wasn’t like Eliezer had never been there before.

Eliezer had recognized it immediately, but he’d clung to one last hope that Brayden might have some decency left and wouldn’t take her into the club.

The deafening noise from the background erased that hope instantly, making him quicken his pace.

Keep an eye on her,he stated.

Relax, I didn’t need you to tell me that,Zackary replied, swirling his glass before pausing as if struck by a thought.

Seriously, Eliezer, why the sudden concern? You always acted like she annoyed you. Now that you’re divorcing, you’re calling me to dig into her life abroad and asking me to watch her tonight. What’s wrong with you?

Eliezer had no patience for bickering. He got straight to the point. We’re not divorced yet. Legally, she’s still my wife.

Zackary adopted a lecturing tone. Eliezer, you can’t have it both ways. You’re going to marry Jaclyn anyway, so just finalize the divorce already. That way, I can take my shot at

The call disconnected before he could finish.

Zackary clicked his tongue in annoyance. When he looked up again, the slender figure by the bar was gone.

Inside the club, strobe lights pulsed in dizzying colors while the bass-

heavy music thrummed through the crowd.

Lindsey followed Brayden through the crowd until they reached a booth. He shouldn’t find me now,she said, glancing back. That guy’s still on his phone.

She ordered a drink, her gaze flickering toward Zackary’s direction.
