Daohua and the two others rushed into the mountain, followed by the able-bodied villagers. However, as the sky gradually darkened, they didn’t dare venture too deep. After searching for a while without finding anyone, they retreated from the mountain one after another.
After waiting for a quarter of an hour, Daohua couldn’t hear any noise anymore and slowly climbed down from the tree.
Just as she hit the ground, the servant and master who had been captured with her emerged from the nearby ravine.
"Young master, so you were hiding in the tree!"
Huai En looked up at the towering tree, some ten meters tall, and gave Daohua an admiring thumbs-up.
Prince watched Daohua intently, thinking to himself that although the kid seemed small and skinny, he hadn’t expected such agility.
Daohua glanced at the somewhat disheveled duo and, without giving them much attention, turned and walked towards the mountain’s exit.
Prince and Huai En hurriedly followed.
Huai En said to Daohua with a smile, "Young master, I really owe you a big thank you. If you hadn’t come to our rescue, my master and I would have definitely been captured by those troublesome villagers again."
Prince chimed in just in time, "Kid, since you saved this... this master, I can help you fulfill a wish."
Daohua didn’t want to bother with the two of them, but seeing that they kept following, she couldn’t help but frown.
It was about to be dark, and these two were still with her. What if she needed to enter the space?
Daohua stopped, turned to face them, and asked with knitted brows, "Why are you following me?"
Huai En looked at his master and then said with an ingratiating smile, "Young master, my master and I are not very familiar with the mountain paths."
Daohua replied impatiently, "I’m not familiar either, so stop following me."
Prince, seeing that Daohua regarded them as a nuisance, said displeased, "Kid, two hands are better than one, don’t underestimate us."
Daohua looked at him, "Then tell me, what can you do?"
Prince was at a loss for words, then lifted his chin and said, "I’ve been out for quite a while without returning; my subordinates will definitely come looking for me. By then, those villagers outside won’t be an issue."
Daohua let out a ’tch’ of disdain and, bored with the conversation, continued walking out.
