Daohua countered, "Do you think you can find it?"
After resting for a while, Huai En had regained some strength. He got up, smiled, and said, "The young master might not know this, but I remember every road I’ve ever traveled. It’s impossible to reach the county town tonight, but staying overnight in a small town is doable."
Anxious to return to the Capital, Daohua asked, "How do we get there?"
Huai En immediately replied with a smile, "Young master, after my master takes a short rest, we’ll head straight to the town."
Daohua glanced at Prince Ping, who was still lying on the ground, gasping for breath, and urged, "Hurry up."
Prince Ping replied irritably, "What’s the hurry? Haven’t those people failed to catch up?"
Daohua waited a while and, seeing Prince Ping unmoving, couldn’t help but urge again, "Listen, old master, you won’t be safe until we’re out of this. Who knows, that group of villagers might catch up to us soon. I’m out of pills, so if they do, prepare to be caught and thrown into the pond."
Hearing this, Prince Ping finally extended his hand unwillingly for Huai En to help him up. After standing, he still grumbled, "I have never suffered so much before!"
Daohua ignored him and simply said, "Lead the way!"
Huai En helped Prince Ping and started heading toward the town.
On the way, Daohua asked, "Can we go directly to the county town?"
Grateful for Daohua’s earlier rescue, and though she came off as quite fierce, Huai En found her to be a decent person who had helped them twice. Without her help, he and his master might indeed have been caught by the aggressive villagers.
Therefore, his attitude was fairly good.
"Young master, my name is Huai En, and you can call me Huai En."
Daohua responded with an ’oh’: "That so, Huai En, can we go directly to the county town?"
Huai En smiled and said, "Young master, the county town is too far. On foot, it would take several hours. Let’s first get to the town and rent a carriage there to go to the county."
Daohua frowned, "It’s so late, can we still rent a carriage?"
Huai En shook his head, "I’m not sure about that."
After walking for about a quarter of an hour, the three of them saw some lights and vague structures of houses.
Huai En smiled, "Here’s the town! There’s only one inn. Young master, will you join us?"
Daohua nodded.
Soon, they arrived at the inn.
Unable to rent a carriage at night, Daohua had no choice but to get a room like Huai En and his master, preparing to rest overnight before setting off in the morning.
When the inn’s servant delivered water, Daohua took the chance to ask about their location and learned that they had left the Capital Boundary, and were only in a county near the Beijing Suburbs. She frowned.
She had been washed quite far away by the current!
After being terrified by the kidnappers and then washed away by the river, Daohua was now physically and mentally exhausted. As soon as she lay down on the bed, her eyelids involuntarily closed.
