The Lady Nun Seeks Justice (Eliza Stonor) novel Chapter 463

463.Chapter 463

“Hey, what’s with that look on Caleb’s face? It’s really disgusting. Does he actually think you came here because you still have feelings for him?” Eliza hadn’t noticed yet, but Diana spotted it first. She immediately felt nauseated, her face full of disdain.

Eliza had no desire to see Caleb in the first place. To avoid irritation, she even turned her head away.

Fortunately, she didn’t look over, or she would have seen that as Caleb led Sophie to pay their respects, he kept glancing at Sophie with concern, then at Eliza, his eyes darting back and forth greedily.

Thanks to her veil, Sophie hadn’t noticed Caleb’s actions at first. But Caleb’s frequent glances soon caught her attention and made her frown.

Sophie was already in a bad mood, and her anger was rising. She lowered her voice and said, “Caleb, what are you looking at? The ceremony has already started. Stand still, will you?”

“O–okay.” Caleb turned back to Sophie, preparing to bow with her. But in his haste, he bumped into Sophie’s hand, causing it to swell.

“Ouch,” Sophie hissed, sucking in a breath through her teeth.

“Sophie?” Caleb, startled by his mistake, quickly took Sophie’s hand and examined it. It was already red and swollen.

“I’m sorry, Sophie. It’s all my fault. I wasn’t paying attention just now. Does it still hurt? Let me blow on it for you,” Caleb said. “N–no, it doesn’t hurt. I’m fine, Caleb. Don’t worry about it,” Sophie replied, maintaining her facade of gentleness and understanding, even though she was inwardly cursing Caleb.

‘Does it hurt or not? Useless fool. You mess up even at a moment like this. How could you be this stupid?‘ she thought to herself.

But Sophie conveniently forgot that if Caleb weren’t such a fool, he wouldn’t have been so easily charmed by her words. Sophie and Caleb’s clumsy behavior infuriated Adeline. She suppressed her impatience, her expression turning slightly gloomy. “Enough, don’t you see the guests are still waiting? Let’s get this started.”

Sophie took the opportunity to pull her hand away from Caleb’s, forcing a smile and saying, “Madam Nevill is right. Caleb, please continue.”

Chapter 463 1

Under her veil, Sophie was so angry she almost ground her teeth to dust. If it weren’t for the need to avoid marrying that wretched scholar, Sophie would never have subjected herself to such humiliation at the Marquis’s estate.
