522.Chapter 522
After weaving through several streets, Vaughn was fed into an alley by the two men.
Eliza, who had followed discreetly through the crowd, stopped at the entrance of the alley. She squinted slightly eyeing the narrow and dimly lit path ahead.
It was eerily reminiscent of a trap designed for “inviting someone into a pit.”
Eliza merely raised an eyebrow, unfazed, before stepping into the alley
Her footsteps echoed through the quiet alley, deliberate and steady
Pairs of eyes hidden in the shadows began to focus on her.
As her figure blended into the darkness of the alley, a dangerous aura began to gather around her
But just as the tension built, Eliza placed her right hand on her skirt. One by one, her poison insects swarmed from the space she had created, darting out along the hem of her gown, forming countless tiny black dots. At her command, they quickly darted into the deeper shadows of the alley.
Soon, the insects found their targets.
“What is that?”
“Insects. Be careful.”
“Where did all these insects come from? How could there be so many?”
“Run! These bugs are poisonous!”
Unfortunately, by the time the men reacted, they were already surrounded.
No matter how they struggled, they were overwhelmed by the relentless wave of insects, each one biting and tearing until they collapsed, falling victim to the poisonous swarm.
“They really had quite the setup waiting for me,” Eliza muttered, glancing at the bodies that had revealed themselves in the corners after death. She scoffed lightly.
She then kicked the body lying in front of her aside and continued forward.
The poison insects split into two groups–one moved ahead to scout, while the other surrounded her, using the buildings in the alley for cover. They moved silently, alert to any threat that might emerge around their mistress.
After passing through the alley, Eliza soon found herself at the back gate of a mansion.
She scanned the surroundings; clearly, there was no other way in.
She waited quietly for a moment. When she heard some movement inside, she lifted her hand and pushed the door open.
“Who is that?”
From the shadows, a masked assassin watched the young woman entering through the back gate. Seeing her so relaxed, as if strolling through her own home, the assassin frowned and asked.
Another assassin glanced at her, shook his head, and said, “Never seen her before. She’s pretty, but she doesn’t seem to match the description of Diana that we were told to kill.”
“What do you mean ‘doesn’t match‘? This is definitely someone else.”
The first assassin shot him a look, coldly replying, “It doesn’t matter who she is. What’s strange is that she just walked right in. Where are the guards outside?”
The second assassin’s eyes widened as realization hit. “Could something have gone wrong?”
They exchanged a glance, and without a word, made their decision.
“Take her down.”
“Understood.”
The two assassins immediately sprang into action, but before they could close the distance, a cold flash flickered between their necks.
The next moment, two blood trails shot out from the air, and their bodies dropped into the water basin below.
The “splash” of water did not even cause Eliza to turn back.
She had already known the assassins‘ positions through the insects.
