The Lady Nun Seeks Justice (Eliza Stonor) novel Chapter 573

573.Chapter 573

Rayden’s face darkened–this was the first time he had failed, and it nearly allowed someone to infiltrate a critical location. “Understood,” Rayden said, “I will thoroughly investigate all of Centrina City. Since the thief is using parasite magic, they can t be far. As long as they’re still in the city, they won’t escape.”

Hearing this, Jefferson seemed to have a thought and narrowed his eyes. “Rayden, do you think the thief performed the magic outside the city?”

He suspected the events of the night might be connected to Nolan and his group.

But Rayden shook his head, saying, “Impossible.”

Jefferson, confused, asked, “Why?”

Rayden explained, “Sorcerers need to control parasites within a certain range. Even the most skilled sorcerers can only operate within a five–mile radius. The governor’s mansion is much too far from the nearest city gate, as the governor himself would know better than anyone.”

Jefferson, of course, knew that the governor’s mansion was nearly ten miles from the closest city gate.

After thinking about it, it indeed seemed impossible.

“So, it seems the thief is still within the city. Rayden, you handle capturing them. I need to go outside the city for a while. In the meantime, I trust you will keep an eye on everything within the governor’s mansion. We cannot let anyone slip in unnoticed.”

“Rest assured.”

Just as Jefferson and Rayden were certain that the sorcerer who infiltrated the governor’s mansion was still within the city, they were completely unaware that the truth was moving further out of reach.

The intruder was not a sorcerer, and in fact, they had never been within Centrina City at all.

At this very moment, Vexara, along with a portion of the insect swarm, had swiftly crossed the city gate and returned to the Black Flag Army’s camp.

Eliza said, “You’re back.”

Sensing the familiar magical water, Vexara fluttered its wings in delight and landed on its master’s hand.

It nuzzled Eliza’s fingers while drinking the diluted magical water she had prepared, simultaneously repo findings.

As Eliza gathered the information from Vexara, her expression immediately shifted.

Nolan, who had been waiting nearby, stood up and approached her. “What happened? What did you find?”

on the night’s

Eliza, her face in shock, spoke in a tone almost too incredulous to believe. “Beneath the Centrina City governor’s mansion, there’s a… slaughterhouse.”

Nolan asked, “What?”

At first, Nolan didn’t grasp the meaning of “slaughterhouse,” but in an instant, he understood what Eliza meant.

“Centrina City is a human cage, and the governor’s mansion is the slaughterhouse… And in the opposite side of the slaughterhouse, there’s another secret chamber full of bottles and jars. And inside those bottles…”

“Are Immortality Pills.” Before Eliza could continue, Nolan finished her sentence with certainty. Back when he was in Hasen City, he had suspected where all the Immortality Pills were coming from. Even though many people had died in Hasen City, the numbers of Immortality Pills didn’t match up.

Now, he had finally found the true source of those pills.

But no one had imagined that the source was so utterly barbaric.

Nolan had initially thought Jefferson, or rather, the Malone family, were merely power–hungry, acting as local tyrants in Woteria.

But he hadn’t expected that the cruelty of the human heart here was far more dangerous than any battlefield slaughter.
