574.Chapter 574
“No,” Jefferson gritted his teeth, his eyes hardening. It wasn’t over yet–his years of planning couldn’t be undone by Nolan.
“Bring Darryl here!” Jefferson ordered.
Darryl responded, “Sir, I’m on the city tower.”
“Send word to him. Tell him to bring troops and stop Nolan.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Yehuda,” Jefferson called.
Yehuda stepped forward, asking, “What is your command?”
“Saddle your horse and make haste back to the governor’s mansion. Tell Rayden to move everything in the secret chamber immediately. We can’t leave Nolan any evidence.”
Yehuda asked, “What about you, sir?”
Jefferson’s eyes darkened. “If Nolan wanted to kill me, he needs proof. He’s surely discovered what’s in the secret chamber, but if you transfer everything before he arrives, then Nolan can’t touch me.”
“Understood.”
After giving these instructions, Jefferson turned to the housekeeper. “Go back and tell Mother to move everything from the estate as well. Make it quick, while we still have time.”
“Yes, sir.”
Once Jefferson finished giving his orders, he stood on the carriage, clenched his fists, and stared ahead for a moment before suddenly shouting at Nolan, “Prince Regent! The snow disaster in Woteria has caused countless deaths.
“Now, you lead your army to provide aid, but instead, you attack me without warning, framing me with false charges. Could it be that the relief effort is a lie, and that your true goal is to kill and silence witnesses?
“I’ve always considered the people of Centrina City my own, caring for them as family. Yet now, you bully and humiliate me. It’s enough to make one question the fairness of the heavens!”
“Protect Mr. Malone…”
“We can’t let these corrupt officials hurt Mr. Malone.”
“That’s right, Mr. Malone is a good man.”
Spurred on by Jefferson’s words, the citizens of Centrina City, who had already lost hope in the court due to the snow disaster and were angry, began to gather around him.
They didn’t know about the deceit or the massacre–they only knew that Mr. Malone, who had always shown them kindness, was now being targeted by the court.
So, they decided to protect Mr. Malone.
An arrow shot through the air, grazing Jefferson’s head.
Looking up, it was clear that Nolan had made his move.
From horseback, Nolan coldly stared at Jefferson and said, “The truth will come out, and I’ll judge it. If you are truly innocent, then surrender.”
“I, the Prince Regent of the kingdom, declare here that if the Woteria governor Jefferson is innocent, I won’t harm a single hair on him. But if he has slaughtered innocent citizens, I will have him skinned alive.”
At this point, Jefferson wasn’t a fool.
If he surrendered, he would surely die.
Nolan wouldn’t even wait for the evidence; he would probably just execute him on the spot.
So, he could never agree to surrender.
But running away wasn’t an option either.
His greatest support was the citizens now.
He had to make the citizens his shield, his wea Successfully unlocked!
