The Lady Nun Seeks Justice (Eliza Stonor) novel Chapter 619

619.Chapter 619

He grabbed the reins and pulled with all his strength, but the horses pulling the carriage had been tampered with. Their eyes rolled wildly as they galloped forward, completely out of control.

With no other choice, Anthony braced himself. Dragging his useless lower body, he scrambled toward the edge of the carriage.

He had to jump–there was no time to hesitate!

If he didn’t, he’d go over the cliff with the carriage!

The cliff loomed closer and closer, the ground rushing by in a blur. Anthony clenched his teeth, his mind racing. With a sudden twist of his body, he flung himself out of the carriage.

A desperate scream tore from his throat as he tumbled through the air.

“Bang!”

Far below, the abyss yawned like a dark, endless maw. Amid the gloom, the shattered remains of the carriage lay scattered, splintered into countless pieces. The horses were crushed beyond recognition.

As for Anthony, he was now clinging desperately to the edge of the cliff. Cold sweat poured down his face, stinging his eyes and blurring his vision.

In the nick of time, he had managed to roll out of the carriage. But the momentum had carried him dangerously close to the edge, and after tumbling twice on the ground, he had nearly gone over.

Luckily, his hand caught a protruding rock at the last second.

Otherwise, he would have ended up like the carriage below–shattered into pieces at the bottom of the ravine.

Anthony couldn’t relax–not even for a moment.

His legs were useless; there was no way he could climb back up!

A desperate, guttural cry escaped his throat.

“No!”

He didn’t want to die! He couldn’t die here!

He wished someone would show up to save him.
