Upon returning to the ward, Grace found that Devin was awake and attempting to get out of bed. 

Seeing that, she strode over, put down the kettle, and pressed him back onto the bed. 

“Didn’t you promise me you’d rest? Why are you getting up again?” 

Devin looked a bit better, but his voice was still a bit hoarse. 

“You’ve been away for too long, and I miss you.” 

Grace glanced at her watch and saw that she had only been out for less than ten minutes. 

Noticing the fleeting emotion in his eyes, she couldn’t help but press the space between her eyebrows. 

“You often say I lie to you, but actually, you’re the best liar. I don’t think you missed me. You just want to keep an eye on me, don’t you?” 

Devin covered his mouth and coughed, feigning a look of deep grievance. 

“I’m just worried about you. With all the commotion outside, if I don’t go check, wouldn’t I be failing my duty as a husband?” 

Grace knew that he genuinely cared about her. Therefore, she gently held his hand and recounted to him what had just happened. 

“I ran into Antonio while going out to refill the kettle. He asked me to divorce you, but I refused, and he got so angry that he even tripped. To annoy him, I even called him disgusting.” 

When Devin heard that, a faint smile appeared on his pale face. 

“Well said. He is indeed quite disgusting.” 

Grace felt his forehead with the back of her hand. Seeing his light smile, she couldn’t resist teasing him. 

“I didn’t know the legendary Mr. Hudson, known for his spotless reputation, would also speak ill of others?” 

Noticing her snicker, Devin gently pulled her into his arms. 

“I’m also a mortal with emotions and desires, so of course I would speak ill of others and do bad things.”
