"Fire blast!" Tang Guan cast the spell. He threw a ball of fire toward the red-eyed deer who was running in Gu Jin’s direction.
Gu Jin broke from the daze and realized that she had fallen into an illusion.
Looking at the red-eyed deer that was gazing at her with hostility, Gu Jin realized how stupid she was.
If Tang Guan had not saved her, she would have died for sure!
Gu Jin nodded at Tang Guan who warned her,
"Be careful. If you stare into their eyes too much you would fall under their spell."
After advising Gu Jin, Tang Guan turned and focused on fighting other red-eyed deer.
Gu Jin took a deep breath and cast her primary spell,
"Plant Vines!"
She was closer to Tang Guan, so she used her plant vines to hold the red-eyed deer that was going to attack Tang Guan from the back.
"Plant Spikes!" Gu Jin cast.
The red-eyed deer which was held by Gu Jin’s plant vines died when a sharp plant spike pierced its heart. Gu Jin’s quick thinking and precise spellcasting saved Tang Guan from being attacked from behind.
Zhang Wei who was observing the situation, heaved a sigh of relief and was surprised too.
Gu Jin falling under one of the illusions was an expected thing considering this was her first time facing a smart and agile beast like red eyed deer.
Hence he had asked Tang Guan to look after Gu Jin while fighting.
He had expected Gu Jin to be shocked and not perform at all, since it was her first time participating in a battle. But to his surprise, not only did she beautifully recover quickly, but she also killed one of the red-eyed deer with just 2 spells.
She wasn’t an advanced mage like Xu Mingtao and Liu Sunhao. Neither did she use the combination of two elements, yet she was able to kill a primary rank mutated red-eyed deer.
However, from the looks of it, the mutated red-eyed deer may not have reached the adolescence stage.
"Leader are you not going scold little Jin?" Liu Sunhao asked with a pout as he attacked one of the red-eyed deer.
Zhang Wei gritted his teeth.
Even in this situation, this bast*rd can’t shut his mouth.
"Of course he won’t! He only loves to pick on us since we are more beautiful and handsome." Xu Mingtao snorted.
Zhang Wei: "..." I want to throw them both!
Gu Jin too felt that Xu Mingtao and Liu Sunhao were...too unique!
Even in this situation, they could joke while fighting...truly she had misjudged them.
Tang Guan too noticed Gu Jin’s action and said,
"Let’s cover each other’s back."
Gu Jin nodded and both of them stood with their back facing each other.
Soon Xu Mingtao, Zhang Wei, and Liu Sunhao joined while Yi Ran stood inside the circle formed due to their formation.
Yi Ran’s second element was Psychic. She used her element to calm the mutated red-eyed deer to decrease their hostility.
For the next half hour, the group continued to fight.
With each passing moment, the group’s teamwork and coordination grew stronger, their determination to overcome the threat unwavering despite the odds stacked against them.
Together, they fought with courage and resilience, pushing themselves to their limits as they battled against the relentless onslaught of the mutated beasts.
The mutated red-eyed deer kept on flocking and Zhang Wei started to get worried.
"Leader, why do I feel that their number is not decreasing at all?" Yi Ran asked the question Zhang Wei was wondering.
Gu Jin too felt that something was amiss.
Why does the number of mutated red-eyed deer keep on increasing even after they have killed more than 40?
Zhang Wei furrowed his brow, concern evident in his expression as he observed the relentless onslaught of mutated red-eyed deer.
"It’s as if they’re being drawn here by something," Gu Jin muttered, her eyes scanning the surrounding forest for any signs of unusual activity.
Zhang Wei looked at Gu Jin in surprise.
"Exactly! Maybe something here is attracting them! We need to find the source!" Zhang Wei thought.
The other members of the group exchanged worried glances, realizing the gravity of the situation.
"If they keep multiplying like this, we won’t be able to hold them off for much longer," Tang Guan remarked, his voice tinged with urgency.
Zhang Wei nodded grimly, his mind racing as he tried to come up with a plan to stem the tide of incoming creatures.
"We need to find out what’s attracting them and put a stop to it," Zhang Wei declared, his voice firm with determination.
But just as he spoke, a low rumbling sound echoed through the forest, causing the ground beneath their feet to tremble.
