The Mighty Mage novel Chapter 119

Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Help

Intermediate rank could only level up the height to a certain degree. From 300, it may have transformed into 400 cm(around 13 feet). But that is all!

The tree surrounding them was at least 20 feet high! How could Gu Jin’s vines be enough?

Gu Jin focused her energy on the vines.

Of course, normal plant elements could only rise to a certain distance but the advantage of mutated plant elements was... they could rise to double the height of a normal plant element.

Meaning Gu Jin could easily raise her vines up to 800 cm(somewhere around 26 feet).

Hence Yi Ran who was slowly about to reach the branch of the tree was shocked.

"Have you reached?" Gu Jin shouted.

Yi Ran, still in disbelief, nodded slowly as she grasped the tree branch above her.

"Almost there!" she called back, her voice tinged with amazement.

Gu Jin continued to focus her energy, willing the vines to extend further and further, reaching toward the treetops.

Finally, Yi Ran reached the highest point of the vines, grabbing onto the thick branches of the tree with a sense of relief.

Gu Jin withdrew the vine from Yi Ran’s waist after Yi Ran properly stood up on the branch.

Just as she was focusing on withdrawing the vines, she sensed danger coming near her,

Gu Jin tried to dodge the attack but with her attention on withdrawing the vines, she wasn’t able to react quickly enough.

Suddenly, a mutated red-eyed deer leaped out from the bushes, its sharp antlers aimed directly at Gu Jin.

In that split second, Zhang Wei sprang into action, casting a protective earth barrier around Gu Jin just in time to deflect the deer’s attack.

The barrier shimmered with magical energy as the deer’s antlers clashed against it, sending sparks flying in all directions.

Gu Jin stumbled backward, her heart racing with adrenaline as she realized just how close she had come to being impaled.

However, she didn’t let it show on her face and only nodded at Zhang Wei.

"Keep on going I will protect you." Zhang Wei said.

He was an advanced rank mage with many years of experience and his cultivation was much higher than others.

Gu Jin shifted her gaze to the other members and one by one she used her plant vines to lift them onto the branches of the nearest trees.

Finally, only Gu Jin and Zhang Wei remained.

Zhang Wei kept on fighting as he said,

"Jin, you go and then pull me up otherwise there will be no one to protect you."

Gu Jin stared at Zhang Wei who was on the verge of collapsing.

She knew that the person who remained the last would most likely die.

Why?

The red color that was emitted from the ground had now turned into a blood-red color, meaning the psychic array was about to be activated.

However...

"I can also use 2 vines at a time."

Without giving Zhang Wei any time, she wrapped the green vines around his and her waist and lifted them up.

The mutated red-eyed deer seeing their prey running became agitated and started charging towards Gu Jin and Zhang Wei.

With a burst of strength fueled by adrenaline, Gu Jin pulled herself and Zhang Wei up onto the tree branch just as the mutated red-eyed deer reached them.

The creatures snarled and leaped, their sharp antlers glinting in the dim light, but Gu Jin and Zhang Wei were safe for the moment, high above the forest floor.

Gu Jin who was tired, finally sat down.

Zhang Wei on the other hand stared at Gu Jin for a minute or two, before moving away from his eyes.

He must say that this brother was truly very smart.

Zhang Wei and Gu Jin were sitting on a branch. Yi Ran and Tang Guan were on the other while Liu Sunhao and Xu Mingtao were sitting on the other.

Whoosh.

Whoosh.

As the psychic array activated with a menacing whoosh, a palpable tension filled the air.

Gu Jin’s heart raced as she felt the sinister energy emanating from the ground, enveloping the forest in its dark influence.

Zhang Wei’s expression hardened as he surveyed their surroundings, his mind racing with thoughts of how to overcome this new threat.

The creatures below them seemed to sense the array’s activation, their movements growing more frenzied and aggressive as they charged blindly toward the source of the energy.

"We can’t let them reach the center of the array," Yi Ran said, her voice tinged with concern.

Zhang Wei nodded, his eyes narrowing as he focused on the approaching horde of creatures.

"We’ll have to hold them off while we search for a way to deactivate the array," he said, his voice steady despite the danger that loomed before them.

Gu Jin calmly said,

"It’s too late."

Zhang Wei turned to look at Gu Jin.
