"Exactly! You're just a janitor! Do you even know what's happening here?" A second person insulted her.

"Mr. Hance, aren't you afraid of having employees like her? I think you should just fire her." A third person tried badmouthing her to her employer.

"Maybe this is all an act to fool everyone. I bet this was all planned in advance." A fourth person speculated.

Jennifer had never been in a situation where she was criticized by a group of people, and these were all big shots. She was so scared that her body started trembling, and she didn't know what to do.

She said, "M-Mr. Hance, I really didn't plan this in advance. I-I really don't know this man at all! Please don't fire me. I-I still need this job to take care of my kids. I'm begging you."

To Jennifer, Nick was the most important person at the hotel, and he was the only person she knew there. And as such, he was the only person she could ask for help for.
