It was a group chat.
She hadn't seen much else, although she noticed the number "4" displayed at the top. It meant that there were four people in the group.
There was also a WhatsApp profile picture that she recognized. It belonged to Tiffany.
Evelyn's gaze flickered slightly.
So, they had a private group chat among themselves. Tiffany really was the center of attention.
As for her, she had been married to Lucas all those years, yet she never knew that "family members" could publicly be added to their friend group.
Although she no longer cared, it was as if some of her shameful deeds had been exposed now that she suddenly knew about this matter. They could thus now laugh at her.
She actually found it somewhat ridiculous.
Jason wanted to say something, but he saw Tiffany's private message pop up.
She had texted, "Are you really dating someone? Who is it?"
Pressing his lips together, he didn't reply. Instead, he wrote in the group chat, "Stop spewing nonsense."
…
Meanwhile, after Easter dinner ended, several people gathered together. This included the heirs of various family businesses.
In the private room, glasses clinked and drinks flowed.
Mason saw Jason's reply and burst out laughing. "That can't be it, right? Did he not explain anything?"
Lucas only took a sip of his drink and said nothing.
Tiffany seemed to be thinking. "Maybe it's not official yet, so he doesn't want to say anything."
She glanced down again at her chat with Jason. He seemed busy with something, considering that he replied to the group chat but didn't answer her private question.
Mason shook his head. "That's not it. I invited him to come for a drink earlier, and he said he couldn't leave because he was with family. Don't we usually get together tonight every year?"
Could he really not leave, or did he not want to leave?
