564.Chapter 564
Inside the tent, Rafe and Louisa were soon escorted by two soldiers.
As they entered, Rafe quickly scanned the room, noticing that only Nolan was present.
Inwardly, Rafe wondered, ‘Why isn’t the Holy Lady of Walden here?‘
His eyes flicked over to Nolan, who was standing by a long table, two bowls placed in front of him, each containing something–one a dark green paste, the other a brownish liquid.
Though he wasn’t sure exactly what it was, the distinct smell of medicine in the air hinted that both bowls contained some form of medicinal concoction.
‘Could it be for us?‘ Rafe paused in thought.
Louisa, standing next to him, was scanning the tent just as he was.
She had one person in mind, and now, he was the only one present,
Louisa thought, Although the Holy Lady isn’t here, as long as the Prince Regent is, it’s fine.
After all, her real target was Nolan.
As for the Holy Lady, she’d have plenty of time to deal with her as long as she remained in Wotería,
Louisa bowed and said, “Greetings, Prince Regent.”
“I pay my respects, Prince Regent,” Rafe followed suit.
Hearing his words, Louisa couldn’t help but sneak a glance at Rafe.
Louisa thought, ‘So that’s what he’s here for? To do Nolan’s bidding? she thought. It must be something my grandmother instructed him to do. What a hassle–now I have to cooperate too.‘

Annoyed, Louisa lowered her gaze, adopting a respectful and courteous demeanor as she waited.
“Lift your head,” Nolan said without turning, not even saying “rise.”
Both Rafe and Louisa, still kneeling, stiffened and lifted their gazes toward the front.
“Rafe, Louisa… both from the Malone family, and you even seem to resemble each other…”
As though anticipating Nolan’s next words, Louisa immediately spoke, “Prince Regent, I am the daughter of Woteria’s governor. How can you compare me to this beggar? Isn’t that an insult?”
From the corner of his eye, Rafe shot her a few venomous glares.
Although his appearance did resemble a beggar, Louisa’s words were exactly what he had been thinking.
Just hearing it made his blood boil.
Nolan turned his head, giving Louisa a calm look, and asked, “Is he a beggar or a refugee?”
Louisa, feeling no differen
thought, ‘A beggar is just a refugee, isn’t it?’
If it were anyone else, Louisa would have answered without hesitation.
After all, her father was the highest authority in Woteria, and whatever she said went.
But the person in front of her wasn’t just anyone–it was Nolan, the Prince Regent of Bortenland, one man above all others.
If Louisą dared to say that, she would be digging her own grave.
So, Louisa pursed her lips and gave what she thought was a perfect answer, saying, “If the Prince Regent believes him to be whatever, then that is what he is.”
Upon hearing this, Nolan glanced at her again.
Louisa’s heart skipped a beat.
It seemed her response had pleased Nolan.
After all, powerful men at the top of the hierarchy liked to be surrounded by those who knew how to flatter them–just like her father, Nolan shared that trait.
But at that moment, Nolan, still holding the two bowls, approached Rafe and Louisa.
The two Black Flag soldiers immediately took the bowls from his handstand stood by his side.
“One bowl for each of you. Choose for yoursel
Both Rafe and Louisa were stunned.
Successfully unlocked!
Rafe, still kneeling, confused, asked, “Prince Regent, what are we supposed to choose from?”
“Of course, to eat or drink. I’ve given you two options. Feel free to choose.” Nolan smiled faintly.

Louisa immediately sensed something was wrong. She swallowed nervously and asked, “This… looks like medicine. Prince Regent, are you giving us some sort of medicine to ward off the cold?”
Nolan, with a half–smile, replied, “If that’s what you think, it’s not wrong.”
Louisa suddenly dropped to her knees, her face pale as she feigned terror. “I truly don’t understand your meaning. If you intend to punish me for my earlier rudeness at the camp entrance, I am willing to accept my punishment.”
“But the medicine… My constitution has always been weak, and I cannot take medicine recklessly. I’m afraid that even a good medicine could turn into poison for me. If I die, it’s not a concern for me, buty father and grandmother will surely be heartbroken. So, while I truly appreciate the Prince Regent’s good intentions, I must respectfully decline the medicine.”
Rafe couldn’t help but listen intently to this performance.
First, she played the victim, then she turned the tables.
“Willing to accept punishment“-it made her sound so obedient and timid.
But then she mentioned her frail health, as though anyone would dare to harm her once they heard that.
She couldn’t take the medicine and couldn’t be struck either–what was Nolan supposed to do?
Could he force her to take it?
It wasn’t impossible, considering who he was–the Prince Regent.
