618.Chapter 618
Meanwhile, on the other side…
Anthony’s carriage sped away from the Centrina City, heading straight for Saint Snow City.
At first, his mind was preoccupied with figuring out how to reclaim the Dragonbone Lotus from Eliza. But before long, an unsettling feeling began to creep in.
After all, his sister was as ruthless as they came. He’d crossed her too many times for Sophie’s sake–there was no way she’d let it slide.
Now, with both his guards injured and his own movements restricted. He didn’t think Eliza would just sit back and do nothing.
The more he thought about it, the more his unease grew. ‘Forget the Dragonbone Lotus. I need to get out of Wotería and back to Hasen City as fast as possible!‘
Once he was back in Hasen City, with their father around, Eliza wouldn’t dare make a move against him. Clinging to this thought, Anthony barked, “Faster! Push this carriage faster!”
“Yes, Lord Anthony!”
The two guards outside exchanged a quick glance, puzzled by their master’s sudden urgency, but they didn’t hesitate. They cracked the reins, urging the horses to pick up speed.
“How far are we from Saint Snow City?” Anthony called out.
“About four hours away, Lord Anthony,” one of the guards replied.
“Good. Get us there as fast as you can!”
Saint Snow City was bustling with people. Even if Eliza wanted to make a move, she’d have to think twice in such a public place.
Once he reached Saint Snow City, he could hire a new team of guards to escort him safely back to Hasen City.
Anthony clung to this plan–it was the only thing keeping him calm.
He never expected Eliza’s assassins to show up so quickly.
Just as they were only a few miles away from Saint Snow City, a flash of cold light streaked through the air. The guard driving the carriage froze as a thin line of blood appeared on his neck, and his head fell clean off. His lifeless body tumbled from the carriage.
The remaining guard’s face turned pale, but before he could even shout a warning to Anthony, a sharp sound pierced the air, followed by a sickening crack. A hidden weapon had struck, piercing straight through his skull.
It all happened in eerie silence.
Inside the carriage, Anthony was still clueless about the chaos outside. All he heard was a heavy thud, like something falling off the carriage.
On edge, he called out, “Tim? Andy? Where are you?”
These were the names of the two guards Anthony had brought along. Normally, they would respond immediately whenever he called.
But this time, despite his repeated calls, the carriage kept moving forward, yet there was no sound or response from outside.
Anthony abruptly pulled back the curtain, only to find the area outside completely empty!
A cold shiver ran down his spine.
