617.Chapter 617
“Just one? Want me to throw in a few extras for good measure?” Rafe’s cocky smirk returned as he leaned back, his tone light and brimming with confidence.
For him, killing was the easiest task in the world.
But as it turned out, he had spoken too soon.
Eliza’s smile took on a deeper, more enigmatic edge. “No need for overkill. Just take care of the one who dared to step into Woteria. Do that, and I’ll not only guarantee your safety but also take you back to Hasen City to reunite with your dear father.”
“That sounds almost too good to be true. So, who’s the unlucky target?” Rafe raised an eyebrow, still grinning as he pressed for details, completely oblivious to the gravity of the situation.
But the moment Eliza spoke again, her words hit him like a thunderclap, and his expression shifted dramatically, the weight of her revelation crashing down on him.
“I want you to kill Anthony.”
Eliza’s words landed one by one, leaving Rafe momentarily dumbfounded.
“Wait, who?” He thought he must have misheard, so he asked again for confirmation.
Eliza simply smiled without saying a word.
Rafe’s mouth twitched as he tried to process her request. “Your Grace, you can’t possibly mean Anthony from the Duke’s estate, right?”
“Who else could it be?” Eliza replied calmly, her tone unshaken.
“I mean, I thought maybe you were joking or something–wait, hold on!”
Eliza didn’t wait for Rafe to finish his sentence before turning on her heel and walking away.
Terrified for his life, Rafe quickly shouted after her, “Wait, wait! You want me to kill Anthony? Fine, but he’s in Hasen City, not Woteria! How am I supposed to do it unless you take me there first?”
Eliza turned back, her tone calm and unhurried. “No need to go to Hasen City. You can kill him right now.”
“What do you mean by that?” Rafe asked.
“It means he’s already in Woteria. Right now, he’s still on the road to Saint Snow City. If you leave immediately, you can intercept him before he reaches the city.”
Eliza had expected Rafe to hesitate after hearing this. After all, Anthony was his father’s legitimate son.
If Rafe really went through with it, returning to the Stonor family wouldn’t be so simple.
But to her surprise, the moment she finished speaking, Rafe grinned and said, “Alright! I’m in!”
Eliza raised an eyebrow. “You’re sure about this?”
“Absolutely.” He didn’t know what that idiot was doing in Woteria, but since he’d come here, he only had himself to blame.
Rafe smirked. “If you’d told me he was in Hasen City, I might’ve hesitated. But if he’s in Woteria? That’s a whole different story.”
It was easy to kill a cripple in his turf.
And cleaning up the mess here would be a breeze.
“Sis, if time’s tight, how about letting me loose already?”
Rafe flashed a cheeky grin, doubling down on the playful nickname. “I get it–you want me to kill Anthony as some kind of test, right? I’m not an idiot. And let’s be real, picking sides is inevitable. Between a bunch of clueless brothers and a gorgeous, charming sister, I know who I’d pick.”
Eliza shot him a frosty glance. “Let’s hope your skills can make up for that sharp tongue of yours.”
Without wasting another word, she said, “Open your mouth.”
The moment Rafe opened his mouth, she flicked a tiny, unbearably bitter pill inside. His face twisted as he forced it down.” Sis, how long does this poison last? You’re not planning to finish me off too soon, are you?” he asked weakly.
Rafe wasn’t clueless–he was sharp, in fact. He knew there warno trust between him and Eliza, so he’d already guessed she’d use some kind of control tactic.
Successfully unlocked!
Poison was the obvious choice.
“Twenty–four hours. Good luck,” Eliza replied, cutting the ropes that bound him.
“Twenty–four? That’s tight. Better get moving,” Rafe muttered, shaking his head.
