654.Chapter 654
Sophie’s gaze turned icy, and a cruel idea took root in her mind. A sinister smile spread across her face as she said, “But if you’re so eager to share in your wife’s suffering, I might be persuaded to make an exception.”
A dagger clattered to the ground at Dale’s feet, its blade gleaming coldly.
“Stab yourself ten times. Make them deep enough to prove your sincerity, and I might just let her go. What do you say?” Sophie’s tone was almost playful, but her eyes betrayed the malice behind her words.
“No!”
Before Dale could speak, Adeline, lying on the ground, glared at Sophie with venom in her eyes and shouted, “Sophie! Do whatever you want to me, but if you dare harm my husband or my son, I’ll fight you to death!”
“You’re ruthless, I’ll give you that. But if I die here in front of you, neither the Marquis’s estate nor the Duke’s estate will ever let you off!”
Adeline bit her lips, now turned sickly blue–purple from the poison, her entire body trembling with rage. Her expression was fierce, as if Sophie’s actions had completely pushed her over the edge.
Sophie, clearly not expecting Adeline to turn the tables and threaten her, darkened her
expression.
She cast a chilling glance at Adeline but didn’t bother to respond.
Instead, Sophie’s gaze locked onto Dále. She wanted to see if the so–called loving bond between Adeline and her husband could survive this trial.
“Marquis, will you just stand there and watch your wife die from a snake bite, or will you take that dagger and prove your love? Ten stabs. That’s all it takes. Your choice.”

Before Sophie could even finish her sentence, Dale bent down, picked up the dagger at his feet, and drove it into his left arm without hesitation. The sickening sound of flesh tearing echoed in the room.
“Honey!”
Adeline cried out in anguish. She couldn’t stop him in time and could only watch in horror. Tears streamed down her face as she broke into sobs. “Dale, stop! Please stop! Let her kill me instead! Let her kill me!”
Struggling to her feet, Adeline lunged toward Sophie like a madwoman.
“Adeline, trust me!”

654 Chapter 654
Dale caught her, enduring the pain in his arm as he reassured her, “It’s just ten stabs. I‘ Il survive. Trust me, I’ll protect you no matter what.”
Then, turning to Sophie, he met her gaze with unwavering determination. Pointing to the first wound he had inflicted on himself, he asked, “Is this enough to prove I mean it?”
Sophie’s eyes lingered on the wound, her expression dark and unreadable.
She couldn’t believe it. For Adeline, he’d go this far. It was impossible.
“Not enough. Go harder. More blood. I want to see enough blood!”
A sickening squelch rang out.
Three quick stabs, each one drove straight through his own flesh.
Dale’s actions left no room for doubt. He was a man of resolve.
He rose to power not through schemes or by leaning on others. It was his own strength and resolve that had brought him to where he stood today.
So not to mention ten stabs, he would be willing to drive the knife into himself twenty times if it meant protecting his wife and son.
