"You call this a 'small three-bedroom?' I've got a bone to pick with you rich people."
Amelia laughed as she nudged Lila into the house. She pointed to the opposite house, saying, "This really is my smallest place. I've never lived anywhere with neighbors."
Lila was speechless. That was such a humblebrag!
"Just make yourself at home here. If you feel bad about it, after the holidays, I'll find you a few scripts. You can join a crew and shoot something. Stop slaving away at Morgan Group and come shine at Joyce Group instead."
Amelia smirked and added, "If you're worried about those two kids of yours, bring them along. After all, you're young and already have three years of childcare experience."
Lila couldn't help but laugh at Amelia's teasing.
The two of them curled up on the sofa, watching TV, when Amelia suddenly asked, "Did you know Pierre has been released?"
"I know. I've seen him."
Amelia was startled but quickly patted her chest to calm herself.
"It's fine, it's fine. He's been caught again by the… um, police. And more dirt on the Locke family has been uncovered."
Realizing that Lila probably didn't want to hear anything about the Morgan family right now, Amelia mindfully switched her phrasing.
She frowned slightly, then continued, "I wasn't planning to tell you about this since you don't quite like the Locke family, but..."
As she hesitated, Lila looked up at her. "You want to help Vivian, don't you?"
Seeing that she stayed silent, Lila reached out to gently squeeze her hand. Amelia immediately understood her meaning.
Vivian was her friend. If she wanted to help, she should just go ahead and do it. Vivian may have made mistakes, but none serious enough to violate the law or deserve being dragged down with the Locke family into complete ruin.
Amelia smiled and dropped the topic.
Lila stayed at the Milton Street apartment for the next few days. During this time, she didn't see anyone from the Morgan family.
That afternoon, Amelia arrived carrying a box, her face brimming with excitement. "Guess what's inside!"
