too late for a second chance novel (Lila and Dorian) novel Chapter 425

Lila stared at the tall man in a daze.

It had only been a few days since they last met, but he seemed a little… haggard?

She immediately dismissed the thought. A man as elegant and dignified as him could hardly ever be associated with the word "haggard".

Sensing her gaze, the man turned to look at her. His previously dark and cold eyes flickered with a hint of light.

Amelia noticed the situation and said, "I'll wait for you in the car."

With that, she turned and walked away.

Lila hesitated for a moment, but before she could take a step, Kieran had already walked over.

He reached out and, with natural familiarity, adjusted her coat. "It's cold out. You just recovered. Take care of yourself."

Lila lowered her gaze and softly murmured, "Mmm."

"Heading out to buy something?"

She nodded. "Amelia gave me a kitten. We're going to buy supplies for her."

"I'll take you."

"It's fine," Lila declined gently.

Both of their tones were calm, conversating just like they used to without any trace of awkwardness.

"Is there a reason you're here?"

Kieran replied, "No. I just wanted to check on you."

After a pause, he added, "It's cold out. Go quickly and come back soon."

He took a step back, making way for her.

Lila took a step forward but stopped and turned back.

"Was it you who arranged for Pierre to be taken in?"

Kieran's gaze fell on her face as he nodded slightly.

Lila nodded in return. "That day, I lied to you. The person who spoke to me in the hospital corridor was him. He wanted to make a deal with me to protect his sister, Vivian."
