It was the third day today, and Amelia believed that Gideon wouldn't show up. She had three important meetings at the company that day, so she couldn't take care of Eli at the hospital. Thus, she hired a caretaker for him.
When it was time to get off work in the afternoon, she quickly finished her work and went back home to make food for Eli. Then, she brought the chicken noodle soup to the hospital. Upon arriving at the ward, she heard Eli's laugh. She thought that the caretaker was a great person.
Ever since Eli woke up from the surgery, Amelia hadn't seen him smile before, let alone laugh. She thought that she could hire the same caretaker tomorrow. When she pushed the door open, she saw Gideon sitting next to the bed. He was playing Lego with Eli.
However, Gideon seemed to have fixed the Lego wrong, and it was very ugly. That was why Eli laughed loudly. Upon seeing Eli laugh, Gideon chuckled as well. When he noticed that Amelia had arrived, he turned around and asked, "Have you gotten off work?"
Amelia tried her best to smile naturally. "Yeah." She couldn't understand what Gideon meant by doing this. He didn't want to get married or have a family. So, he probably didn't want Eli either. Why did he come to visit Eli, then?
Amelia didn't want Eli to become suspicious, so she placed the thermal flask on the table. "Eli, stop playing. Come and have dinner. I made some soup for you."
"Alright." Eli put away the Lego pieces obediently and asked, "Dad, can you continue to play with me after dinner?"
Gideon responded, "Alright."
When Amelia heard Eli address Gideon as his father, her hand trembled, causing the soup to spill.
"Are you hurt?" Upon seeing that, Gideon and Eli quickly grabbed tissues to wipe the table.
"What did you call him?" Amelia was stunned. Her gaze went back and forth between them.
"Dad!" Eli added, "Dad showed me the paternity test report. He's my biological father!"
