A moment later, Ethan withdrew his hand.
Josephine adjusted to the bright light outside and turned her head, only to be met with his impossibly handsome face. His eyes, slightly curved in a smile, held a depth like a still lake, and his lips—thin, smooth, and almost too perfectly shaped—seemed designed to tempt someone into kissing them.
If the person sitting in the passenger seat were an inexperienced young lady, she would've undoubtedly been mesmerized and maybe even have fallen for him. Fortunately, she had met more than her fair share of gorgeous men. Hence, she was able to resist his charm.
"Do you want some water?" Unlike her internal struggle, he remained perfectly at ease. He handed her a bottle of mineral water and even took the time to twist the cap open for her.
Josephine took it and took a sip. "Thanks." He didn't respond; he just smiled and watched her as if the way she drank water was interesting.
Her heart missed a beat under his gaze, and in her head, she silently screamed for help. Not to brag, but she had seen way too many good-looking men in her life; she had been surrounded by them, especially during her years abroad, where stunningly attractive guys were practically a dime a dozen.
Yet, not a single one of them had this effect on her. None of them were as perfect as Ethan.
While taking a sip of water, she rolled down the car window slightly, letting in the cool night air to clear her head. Then, she casually struck up a conversation. "Who was the elderly man you were having dinner with earlier? I feel like I've seen him before."
"Oh, are you talking about Mr. Osborne? He's a renowned financial analyst. He's often featured in newspapers and magazines—you've probably seen him in one of those."
A financial analyst? Now, that was odd. She had never been one to read financial magazines, and the familiarity she felt wasn't the kind that came from glimpsing someone in an article or on TV. It felt more like she had met him in person before—maybe even interacted with him.
