When Love Breaks (Josephine) novel Chapter 252

Ethan had long expected Josephine to say that. When she was younger, she had done the same thing—distancing herself from her male friends just to avoid making their girlfriends jealous.

And now, she wanted to pull the same trick on him? Not a chance.

"What you're saying makes no sense," Ethan said.

"Why not?" Josephine was puzzled.

Ethan chuckled. "Because my first love is right in front of me."

That single sentence left Josephine stunned. She stared at Ethan in disbelief, at a loss for words.

"Me? You must be joking."

Ethan's gaze was serious, carrying an emotion she couldn't quite decipher. "I'm not joking. I was planning to tell you today anyway. I just didn't expect you to bring it up first. Josephine, do you really not remember me at all? We used to be best friends who talked about everything."

Josephine was utterly confused.

She shook her head firmly. "Impossible. You have to be joking. If I had met you before, there's no way I would've forgotten. How could I have been best friends with you and not remembered? It's not like I have amnesia."

Ethan found her reaction amusing. "Think again. When you were little, did you have many male friends?"

"Of course not!"

Back then, after her parents' divorce, she had isolated herself and refused to interact with anyone. It wasn't until middle school that she finally started opening up again.
