Esther stopped dwelling on the past and abruptly raised her head. "What did you say?"

It was a lie?

"Yeah, you didn't really use your brain. If you think harder, you'll see the truth."

Esther connected recent events and went pale. "You're saying he lied to me on purpose? Because he's sick and doesn't want to burden me?"

When she considered it that way, it all made sense. James knew he was very sick, so he made up a reason to break up with her because he didn't want her to have to deal with it.

Luther laughed a little. "You're not that stupid."

"But that woman looks a lot like me." Esther still had doubts.

"Yep, he found someone who looks like you on purpose." Luther sighed. "Also, my brother has a room. I think it's filled with your posters. Have you ever been in that room?"

Esther was shocked. "I had no idea."

"How silly!"

Esther felt ashamed because she had never paid attention to that. She knew James had a room he didn't let anyone into, including her. She thought it was off-limits or that there was something about him she didn't know.

Since he didn't want to share it, she never thought much about it. But then…
