Melody raised her gaze and saw Jeremy putting down a book. He rose to his feet and looked at her. "It will be very troublesome if something happens to you."
His subtext was that she didn't have to spend the night in a hotel room.
She asked softly, "Didn't you say that you hate the stench of liquor?"
"The entire house is filled with the stench by now. It's not going to make any difference," Jeremy responded in a deep voice. "Someone will be here to clean up the place tomorrow."
"Oh," Melody said, heading for the bathroom.
She was preoccupied with the matter of Rosario and wondered if Ophelia could find some useful leads. In fact, she didn't have the leisure to think about the reason behind Jeremy's erratic attitude today.
Melody took a bath and went outside, but no one was in the living room. Jeremy had probably gone back into the room. She was sitting on her personal couch, enjoying the breeze from the fan as her mind raced.
She was feeling energized and couldn't sleep at all.
Jeremy was done bathing and went to the living room for a glass of water. He noticed her sitting on the couch with her knees close to her chest and frowned slightly.
Summer was drawing closer. She wore a cotton slip nightgown, and her fair complexion glowed when lights shone on it. Her damp hair left stains on her attire, subtly tracing her curvaceous figure.
"Dry your hair properly."
Melody heard a deep voice echoing and raised her head. It was Jeremy in a bathrobe, standing in front of her.
The collar was pulled open, revealing the beads of water on his chest. He had probably gotten out of the bathroom as well, and his shoulder was barely visible under the loose bathrobe.
Melody turned her gaze away diffidently. She had always chomped on Jeremy's shoulder whenever she couldn't resist it.
She said, "It'll dry off on its own after a while. I don't intend to sleep right now either."
