After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1338

At this time, while his body recovered on its own, Garan's mind entered a territory that it hadn't untouched for a long, long, time—more than two decades, in fact.

It had been lying dormant in him as if it had settled peacefully in a secure box that suddenly opened up, exploding in his mind.

It started with the image of white, an endless expanse of white. He could feel himself moving through it. Although it was a memory, he could almost feel the cool, comforting mist that touched his skin.

Then he continued walking forward, upwards, until the white—clouds, he realized—parted ways, revealing a magnificent sight above it.

A village, carved into the mountain itself, stretched out before him. Lush greenery blanketed the slopes, and the winding roads threaded between the unique marble buildings like organized sets of ribbons.

Garan remembered the way his eyes widened, stunned by the beauty of it all.

"We're finally in the Thalendir clan," a low, resonating voice, sounded next to him. He looked up to see a tall silhouette of a big man.

He could not see his face, but he felt at peace.

As if anything in the world could happen, but they could be handled by this one man.

The man smiled and patted his head. "Is my son excited to explore a new village?" the man asked. "Heh, you don't seem like you're tired at all, considering we just climbed two or three thousand steps."

"I like to climb more than just the tall trees at home," he said. The trees at his home were very, very tall. It felt like if he fell, it'd take several seconds before he reached the ground. This time, they climbed even higher. They couldn't see below though, because of the white.

The old man laughed, and his voice was so deep that it felt like the area around them echoed. Anyway, they continued to move and saw the small village up close.

It was a small, beautiful community, and he realized that the buildings were made with intricate shimmering stones seeming to protrude off the cliffs.

There were people there, bustling about, some chatting, some selling, and so on. They were all tall and good-looking, and he knew by instinct that they were 'special' humans like him, too. He had seen normal humans after all, so he could tell the difference.

Like his home village though, there were not many people in this one. No, this place might have even fewer people. At least his village reached a hundred people…

His father let him walk ahead of him so he could look around at his own pace. His blue eyes reflected the beautiful sight, as if remembering as many details as he could.

Of course, because he had a naturally stoic face, one could only see his eyes widening just a bit during this time.

At some point, his small feet stopped as they saw a few people building a house. They were building on a cliff with teams hanging on several meters overhead on vine-like ropes and seats.

On the other hand, a lot of the materials were stockpiled not too far below. There were a number of spectators though, some of whom volunteered to help out.
